I don’t like ties all that much. Fang quit them a long time
ago. Thumbs down on bow ties, and the kind that have to
be tied are a pain. The less I have to struggle with when
getting dressed, the better. - Loose stuff, pullovers, tunic
tops, cotton muu-muus, cotton knee sox, natural fibers in
any clothing. Also, not being a fanatic about showering and
hair washing which Fang is and I am not. My self is just too
dry from all the diuretics and the cold dry weather around
here. Yuk. - That reminds me; I have to fix the wood and
kindling in the wood stove. :o(

I'm the same way! I always buy the extra long ties so that the bottom of the tie covers my belt buckle. My wife says it makes me look thinner so I've never worn it differently since.

I see that another overweight guy does the same thing!

Back in 1841 a President did not live a life that exceeded the opulence of any Monarch in human history. And a term in the presidency did not mean they were going o be fabulously wealthy and idle the rest of their life.

Presidents are worshipped, and it has become a creepy cult. The photos are perfect proof of this. The flood of dramatic posed photos that would embarrass any sane person.

I wonder what room Trump is in for the photo. Doesn’t look like the Oval Office which has gold drapes and large vertical striped wallpaper.

It is a very nice photo.

Who’s the guy in the grey suit off to the left? He appears as though he doesn’t appreciate being there.

President Trump HAD all the things you speak of - but without the hounds from Hell in the guise of the MSM nipping at his heels. And he came into office with more money than ANY President has left office with... money was never his goal. He's turned down the $400,000 a year salary the job pays... Trump gets nothing for being President.

Trump HAD it all.

Men have run for the office for the status, perks, power that Trump gave up. Trump HAD it. When he won he lost the freedom of using what he had earned and owned.

The company he loved? Turned over to sons. The freedom to run a company and make money? Gone.

The only thing Trump got by being elected was the trials and tribulations of an almost impossible job for a country he loved and a people he treasured.

If you doubt me, explain some 'perk' Trump didn't already have BEFORE running.

I’ve been searching to see if there’s a list of names for all those present in the photo, but no luck so far. I’m not knowledgeable enough to name them all.

I agree with you, Rhino. It's sad that that the Presidency has become a cult -- and one must look "presidential"

I discussed this subject in a vanity a few months back: Killing Camelot: How Trump is Smashing the Style of the Political Elite with his Character & Honesty

Let's hope that the way Trump runs his presidency, he demystifies the Office and turns it into more of a business where competent people serve at the will of the people -- and with the minimum of fanfare.

The high level team he has assembled is incredible and I think most are serving to help the country -- they've already had a successful career, but they still want to achieve and give back.

I agree with you that Trump indeed HAD it all. Wealth, fame, etc. And he lost a lot taking the job of President.

I think he realized that things had gotten so bad that if he didn’t step up, nobody else was there to stop the steady creep towards a banana republic.

And by becoming President, he could not only save his country, he would also do the Trump Organization (and other businesses) a big favor.

For the Trump Organization to grow requires a prosperous country, a safe country, good infrastructure, and a country where the Average Joes and Upscale Jills have plenty of disposable income.

You need that to stay at his luxury hotels, join his golf clubs, drink his wine, etc.

Obama, Hillary, and Democrat were the ones who enabled Trump’s rise. They destroyed the country to such an extent that the Deplorables saw no other option except to throw the bums out.

To finish off this thread, the New York Times published a nice story about Trump's praise at the elegance of the White House and his thrill to be living where Lincoln did.

It’s No Trump Tower, but White House Has ‘Beautiful’ Phones
