Then do read it, I suspect you badly misunderstand the author’s choice of title.

It isn’t an exhortation, nor (to my surprise) is it a commentary focusing on Islam.

I think the threat is more like Brave New World. We haven’t had even 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908, while the poorest are now the most likely to be obese. The internet and social media are like soma or bread and circuses that pacify and preoccupy society.

Excellent piece, and thanks for posting. The Revolution claims, at first to be the friend of the people, then it becomes the friend of the Party, and in the end the Revolution is only the friend of the Revolution. The True Believer will sacrifice anything for it: friends, family, in the end, himself, and yes, he will throw acid in children’s faces for it. The Revolution will not care, for it is a false god.

In 1984, the citizens are required to participate in a daily “four minutes of hate.” Big Brother plays an image of Goldstein, the leader of the Brotherhood (who may or may not actually exist), while the people scream, boo, and hiss.

It's a matter of conviction for me, that Trump is Goldstein, even if the four minutes have been rather expanded, even to 24 hours, according to my perception.

I was actually going to include a lengthy rant on why leftists sympathize with radical Muslims, since both have the same "ends justify the means" mentality. For the left, it's the great worker's paradise. For Islam, it's the caliphate. They both view a high body count as the necessary evil to get there.

I got so worked up I never got around to it, though. Lol

This is an excellent compare and contrast, the current Left to 1984s Big Brother and INGSOC. In the end for both, it’s always about power and using that power to promise Utopia is just around the corner.
