That’s what I saw in several of the earlier articles: a .38 revolver and a shotgun. But check this out. Joseph Weber at Fox News let his bird brain take the lead and didn’t bother getting the facts. Fox News in New York should receive some corrections on that, in my opinion, and living outside of the American environment is no excuse.

Las Vegas introduced Americans to the rapid-fire lethality of bump stocks...

How do we know fewer would have been killed in LA if he wasn't using a bump stock? The Army added the three round burst to the M16 for a reason.

The Schools cannot defend themselves from the students!

It’s high time they start teaching marksmanship in 1st grade.

Every student should know how to handle , clean, and use a gun for defense.

The School Administration is totally inept and lacking good reason. Disarming the public and taking away the public’s right to defend itself , - is an act of LUNACY!

Trump is being a wiener on the bumpstock thing.

Even the NRA has waffled on the bumpstock issue. Like an auto sear, the device is intended to provide de facto full auto fire. While I don't believe auto sears should be so highly regulated, and granting that the functionality of a bump stock is radically different, the net results are very similar, except perhaps in the area of accuracy.

Given the current regulatory environment, it's a legitimate debate. As I indicated, I'm against NFA restrictions, but given that they do exist, that is the state of things...

There is no "debate" over assault rifles and the exact weapons used in the latest mass-killing do not matter in the slightest way.

The proponents of "Gun Control" want all common citizens disarmed, and private ownership or possession of any firearm made into a criminal offense.

Then they will start campaigning for confiscation of lesser weapons.

There are no good intentions behind any of this.

That’s right. I won’t mention them, but there are venues out there where one vehicle could surpass even the worst mass shooting. And it wouldn’t take much planning.

Those who want to ban guns, and that’s clearly the lefts ultimate goal, are saying they don’t care if there are people out here among us who want to kill you and your family. They want the law abiding in this country defenseless and they’re doing it incrementally, one law, one regulation at a time. They know they can never confiscate all the guns but that don’t matter to them. None of those laws ever prevented a mass shooting. But that don’t matter to them either because those laws/regs are meant for the sane law abiding.

Fact is they know damn well they’d have a better chance juggling flaming chainsaws while roller skating than getting rid of all the guns. Never going to happen. So I question their motives. Who do they view as the real threat? Violent criminals and the violently insane, or the law abiding? Considering who their laws are specifically targeted at, I’d guess the law abiding.

Yup. Thomas Jefferson gave Lewis & Clark the equivalent of two .45 caliber 22-shot rifles, just happened to be air powered. The Founding Fathers would have found the M4 a natural extending of technology they knew.

Why don’t they just admit they want to ban all civilian firearms ownership?

Actually as you are very aware it simplifies their position which is to ban all weapons.

Weapons in the hands of free civilians on occassion are a cause of tragedy. No weapons in the hands of free civilians is always without exception the beginning of great death and oppression.

Loyal Germans and German Jews turned in their weapons to the State of Nazi Germany. Then came the holocaust and WWII.

If those civilians Jew and Christian alike had their own firearms as free citizens, WWII probably not have happened.

"You know the American left’s hang up with “assault rifles” is very bizarre. In Britain, they banned handguns but AR-15s are still legal (though hard to get), because they view handguns as being the most dangerous."

I am very confused by your post. I lived in Britain and endured their insane gun laws until I moved back to the USA. If I had an AR-15 in Britain and discovered by the police I would go to jail for a long long time. In fact their are very few AR-15s in Britain as they have their own military 5.56 that is not an AR. The British version is a good rifle. The few ARs in Britain are carried by United States Army and Air Force personnel on military bases and they are full auto 3 round bursts. They actually not AR-15s. They are not because they are full auto.

Please elucidate on your post. I am confused.

ps
My next door neighbor when I lived in Britain was a Thames Valley Policeman, we call them bobbies. I inquired of him what would be necessary for me to have a weapon. He explained that first I would need to be a member of a gun club (very expensive), apply for a permit to buy a weapon with an extensive background check (very expensive) and if all was okay I would be issued a license to buy a weapon and ammunition that must be taken to the gun club and kept under lock and key unless I was shooting at the gun club. I told him, "it was not worth the bother." He said, "that is the idea."
