The weapon is irrelevant, a psycho can kill with a wide variety of things. However we are overlooking an obvious common thread. The school shooters from Columbine to Texas all fit certain psychological profiles and telegraphed their intention to commit mass murder days or weeks in advance. School and law enforcement authorities were either oblivious to these threats or failed to act on them. We created a no fly list for people fitting certain profiles why not something similar for schools? The laws we need are not more gun control, but dealing with mental health issues including being able to detain those making such threats
Thus proving that the push for an "assault weapons" ban is pure BS, pablum for the ill-informed. First, like all "gun control" laws it is based on the flawed belief that criminals intent on breaking dozens of other laws will somehow be deterred by just one more "gun control" law. {snort}
This incident points out yet another flaw in the logic of an "assault weapons" ban. That is, the specific features, capabilities, and characteristics of an "assault weapon" really make no difference in this context. Every weapon is dangerous, even non traditional weapons are dangerous in the hands of the determined, clever, and resourceful evil: trucks, cars, fertilizer, knives... Any lib lurkers out there - is it sinking in yet? Are we breaking through your willful ignorance yet? It's not the weapon, not the means. It is the intent and evil behind the act. That's what we have to address. The means to commit murder wholesale will always exist.
A bad person with a gun can do great harm. A few good teachers with guns can stop that harm before it becomes great carnage. In this scenario a few good people will die. What happened two days ago is two teachers died and nine students. If those two teachers were armed perhaps only one or two would have died.
The alternative is to have no weapons for anyone. This concept is insanity. When the populace is disarmed the real killing begins. It starts slowly and incrementally with just imprisonment. It ends in the Gulag of Russia or the mass killings of Mao under China.
When the government fears the people, freedom flourishes. When the people fear the government freedom dies.
In our great nation today we are on the cusp of freedom and tyranny. We really are. The iron clasp of tyranny is slow if political but tyranny all the same. Oddly the tyranny of foreign aggression is better. We know they are bad and either defeat them as in WWII are they defeat us. Internal political tyranny is the worst. We do not even know it is happening unless one is well versed.
Cicero said it much better than I could every explain, see below his quote from history:

Someone did a study about 25 years ago that looked at the percentage of fatalities in mass shootings. Shotguns were by far the highest, with .223s down near the bottom.
What the tyrant class needs to worry about are those a little older than us. America's enemies on the left are very close to the line where normal people who still have deer-hunting skills but are too old for an actual fight will start solving the problem we have with big government gun grabbers.
Way back at GA Southern in the ‘80s, I thought about adding a second major in Criminal Justice. I met with the head of the department, and he had a ‘Handgun Control Inc’ bumper sticker on his office door. I never went back.
There’s no debate over “assault rifles” because they never existed in the first place it’s a made political term that in reality should be turned against liberals because AR’s are black so they must be racist.
Liberals want to ban all guns period. That’s their end game and anything else they say is pure BS.

Yep, the general term for one is a Duckfoot Pistol, I think anything 3 or more Barrels (excluding Gatling Guns) falls into the category.
If all barrels managed to fire at the same time I’ll bet they do kick like hell. The problem is that rarely do All go off at the same time.
What the lefties call “assault rifles” are simply basic light rifles. Actual assault rifles make up for (in certain circumstances) their light round with automatic fire.
And it’s this basic-ness which they try to confuse everyone on.
