Does Cankles still have clearance?
See Hammerhead’s post 36, regarding the difference between clearance and access.
I’m not trying to suggest that the characters originally under discussion should keep - or should ever have kept or even HAD - their clearances; just suggesting that there are useful reasons for extending clearance (not access) beyond separation for a defined period of time.
Newt on Hannity now discussing this. Man, he is so estrogen dominant. He needs to have his hormones checked.
Me too, I keep agreeing with Paul more and more. Poor guy was nearly twice killed last year, maybe it scared him straight.
I think I’ve already addressed that earlier in the thread.
The argument that there are useful and sensible reasons why thousands of honest, patriotic Americans should retain their clearances for a period of time after leaving direct government service, is a separate issue.
That should be their problem. Its not up to the US govt to facilitate their move from the public to private sector. When they walk out the door it should automatically be removed.
Yes. Why just threaten. JUST DO IT!
Well, I don’t have time to explain it yet again; but if you read on you’ll see my previous response to this question.
.
There was not a single “honest, patriotic American” on that list.
As I said, you’re a dreamer.
When I referenced the ‘honest and patriotic’, I wasn’t referring to Brennan et al.
Sweet Dreams.
LOL. I have not seen Gingrich so excited since he took his wife to
Tiffany’s.
I
Remove Security clearances?? WTF??ow about this instead:
ARREST
REMAND IN CUSTODY
PROSECUTE
CONVICT
HANG ON THE CAPITOL STEPS.
I read it. Dont care. Pull it then let them start it again under private enterprise. Shouldnt be that hard if theyve been serious about their clearance.
Newt either needs a shot of T or needs to come out about his transition.
During my military days I moved around from jobs that required a Top Secret- Crypto, to Secret to Confidential and back.

Had the same and if not mistaken when you went to the new command you got an interim clearance - just in case you ‘screwed’ up on the way to your new ‘digs’
I went from a ship to Submarine School to the Pentagon in OPNAV Comm and within a week I was the Mid Watch Router Class&UNCLAS and my S & C were fine but TS was interim for a bit.
I also recall a TS ‘Cosmic’ but may be ‘confusing’ it with the TS Crypto.
this was in 1962/3/4
I do know that out of SubSco I had volunteered for ‘Nasty Boat’ duty in Vietnam but was turned down, too much ‘clearance’(Crypto??) was cited as one of the reasons but I was due a shore stint.
Usually med drops out of SubSchool (sort of) got their choice of duty but I didn’t want ‘The 5 cornered Puzzle Palace’.
Thanks. Interesting.
Rand Paul was implying that Brennan still had access. Is he just jerking Brennan’s chain then? (which is fine with me BTW)
Well, I guess you’ll have to ask the US government why THEY allow it in the first place.
It seems to me that there were sensible, practical reasons for allowing a certain extension beyond leaving employment.
My beef lies with allowing compromised people to have clearance in the first place, or not keeping tabs enough to revoke it when they BECOME compromised. We lowered standards.
Any good system can become corrupted, and we can’t make rules or laws that will guarantee protection against corruption; we can only stay vigilant.
I wouldn’t know - it’s above my ‘clearance’ :-)
