Well I don’t know about other FReepers, but I always assumed that all clearances were always dependent on actually having a job which had a real need to know things.
I think that is the way things should work. Always. For everyone. Completely.

Congress hands out its own security clearances to itself and its own staffers. The FBI only investigates after there is a serious security breach, but the FBI can’t revoke clearance. Note the great Awan coverup.

Good grief. Our people are becoming completely illiterate.
My passwords for access to patient records and clinical information has to be changed every 6 weeks or so. If I leave the medical system I work in I will no longer have access to that network. Why should it be any different for these people?

Why should it be any different for these people? ...................... They are the self acclaimed elite, and they deem themselves as untouchable and entitled to privileges. I was a G-2, this horse crap going on is insane. A clearance in the wrong hands can be as dangerous as a Nuke. I always told people that if you see and know too much, you are a weak link. If it means taking clearances away from potential leakers, by all means DO IT! Its normal procedure, a clearance is awarded to you for the slot you are in, once out, the clearance is gone.
FBI does the background checks and they are as corrupt as the corrupt bastards.

Plus, I would think a clearance should be reviewed and have to be updated. You obviously know how it works, and I certainly have no knowledge of this, but it would make sense that maintaining clearance would be an ongoing process subject to ongoing review.
