Ill go one step further. Always carry with one in the chamber of a pistol that does not have active safety features. Man, I would love to, but my Smith & Wesson .40 cal is too big to conceal in summer clothing.
I'll admit that I have a license to open carry, but I've yet to see anyone do so in my urban area of Texas.

Ouch! Somebody was doing something out of sequence...not that pointing a loaded pistol at your off-hand is ever IN sequence.

This us why you shouldn't..at least with a Glock: Nasty. What is it about the design of a Glock that could cause such a horrific injury?

IMHO, open carry makes you a target for robbery or assassination. For a civilian there is no tactical advantage that comes to mind.
As much as I would love to carry my 1851 Navy on my hip Good, Bad and Ugly style - it's never going to happen.

It’s an H&K in .40 - nice that I get as many rounds as I want to use for practice.

That’s why my CC is a Ruger LCR in .357. Only 5 shots, but the first one is the one that counts. I never heard of a misfire or a jam with a center fire revolver. And, the red dot makes things simple.

There’s another term for some people who don’t always carry with a round in the chamber... “Israeli”.

same here. I carry with one in the chamber and my CZ 2075 rami has no safety. I do keep the hammer all the way uncocked though so its a long trigger pull. Between that and carrying it in my sticky holster, I’m not worried about an accidental discharge. If I absolutely needed it fast, I could draw and fire in seconds.

At least you admit that it's your opinion.

You have any examples of an open carry person being ambushed and attacked? Way more typically criminals are not strong predators. They don’t go into a restaurant or convenience store ready for a fight, psychologically they’re ready for compliance. You do give up a lot with open carry, but it’s rare to unheard of for a criminal to see the open carry and then decide to proceed with an attempt at robbery or assault. They go on to the next easier victim.

The hard cold math is that we will lose for dumbasses to unintended discharges. There are sane arguments for chambered vs non chambered. But I don’t agree with the one stating well trained people can use chamber empty, but the less-trained dumb ass is better to stick with round chambered.
People who don’t chamber can do a lot to help themselves by increasing their level of threat awareness out to another second or so, but really most people would be better served by a fully loaded double-action 38.

Until I see a double-blinded placebo controlled study on the subject, I'll stick with an opinion.
The video shorts are pretty convincing though.
