His point is entirely moot (and stupid).

The Constitution doesn’t call for qualifying shooting distances, power, etc. It simply says we have the right to bear arms.

The second amendment is NOT going away, and this little idiot is just in it for the camera time.

Part of USMC rifle qualification is just that. Shooting from the 500-yard line.

I shot expert at Pendleton my last two years on active duty. And I was a 2841 - radio tech.

Our nearby Air Force base has those security forces doing entry control at the gate wearing both a handgun in a holster and a rifle on a sling.

Anyone who has ever seen a security response and lockdown on a military base will usually see the responders deployed from a distance with rifles trained on a building exit or whatever else the threat might be (not with a handgun).

Was “Hogg breath” even there when the shooting went down at his school? Everything I’ve read, says he was at home and raced to the school to be in the limelight...

Ain’t he a pip? I should ask the little pup what is the meaning of life and who he thinks is going to win the next Super Bowl.

Using DH logic a hand gun can’t be use for self defense because it shoots farther than a shotgun.

My perspective on why, is, so that, you can keep people away from your position. I qualified with a M14 on pop-up targets. I don't think they were more than 300 yds.

For me the choice would be determined by the environment, a hand gun in close quarters and a rifle in the open.

Not sure, but, a 500 S&W may have the same range as an AR.

I think my point (combined with his) is twofold:

1) A gun is a deadly weapon. Shooting is about killing. No sense shying away from that fact. To hell with political correctness.

2) Marksmanship, whether with rifle, pistol, or shotgun, is a skill which all free people should pursue.

“Hogg would have a nervous breakdown”

Okay by me, but what would it take to give him a heart attack?

most of my shooting buddies can do just that, paper plate at five hundred yards, iron sights, if not the plate, certainly in the nine ring.

The A-hole of the decade David Hogg (or Hoggface) is the worst POS we’ve seen in a while. It was bad enough his lies and deceit of the Parkland Shooting. (The B-tard wasn’t even there) But he use the event to get money from the NWO leader George Soros to further his plan.

With help from the DNC, the Clintons, and other anti-gun nuts. He got all this time from the Media to further his program of idiocy.

Now he’s back again trying to extend his stupidity and 15 minutes of fame further to get more money for himself. BTW. Have you noticed that wherever this damned punk goes to. He always has ARMED guards protecting him.

Hypocrisy at its finest from a effing fool.

To graduate basic training in the Marines you must hit man sized E silhouette targets aka ivans at 500 meters with open sights. so every US Marine can hit a man sized target at 533 yards without precision optics. Even in my 50s I can still ring steel at 500 with a 4x holographic with any one of a dozen AR 15s I own.

"I don’t know anyone who can accurately use an AR-15 to hit something 5 football fields away. I’m sure it’s doable, but why would you want to?"

Actually it is pretty easy to do. The Marine Corps rifle qualification course requires you to shoot at the 500 yd or meter range (Camp Lejeune has a 500 yd range and Camp Pendleton has a 500 m range). As long as the wind is constant it is pretty easy to stay in the black. Now don't think that is anything special. Rifle teams shooting the M1 or M1A (civilian M14) shoot on a 1000 yd range.

I practice with my hand guns because I know the need to be proficient.

I practice with my rifles for proficiency but also because I find it so much more interesting and enjoyable.

I always take 2 or 3 to the range. They are all my favorite.

I don’t know anyone who can accurately use an AR-15 to hit something 5 football fields away.

Just my personal experience here. YMMV.

When I joined the USMC in 1969, we fired the M-14 at 200, 300 and 500 yards.

A few years later we replaced the M-14's with M-16's (the full-auto version of the AR-15 - though we never fired it in full-auto mode).

We fired the M-16 on the same KD Course at 200, 300 and 500 yards.

The scores did not change. The M-16 was just as accurate at 500 yards as the M-14. Without the same stopping power, of course.

I fired Expert ten years in a row - some years with the M-14 and some years with the M-16. Incidentally, my highest score was with the M-16.

I don't see why a civilian AR-15 would be any less accurate at 500 yards - unless they are intentionally built to less exacting standards.
