We're gonna be talking about Top 5 9mm carbines; and I realize some of the gun here on the table aren't carbines yet, one of ems technically a pistol, however, these are kind of candidates that would make a good carbine, a good suppressor hose, possibly a good SBR host, so we're trying to cover kind of a wide gamut of different 9mm carbines.
Pistol caliber carbines are a lot of fun to play around with, theyre awesome to suppress, they are very handy, they're great for personal defense, great for getting out in the yard and plinking.
I cast my own bullets, so you can grab a lee cavity gang mold, and if you got a user-serviceable suppressor, you can grab your 147-grain bullets, load em up, get out and grab somethin' light, have some cheap fun.
Kel-tec Sub-2000
The Kel-tec's probably one of the first 9mm carbine-type rifles or carbine, however you want to look at it, the first carbine I ever really had access to in any kind of number or any amount of time. This one is equipped with a Red Lion rail. Of course, this rotates out of the way and allows it to be folded, so if you want to run a red dot or something you can do so.
CZ-Scorpion
CZ has a new version of this particular gun that is threaded half-by-28 for American-type muzzle devices. This one has some weird 18mm device on the end, which you would think that they would have known better, but the newer versions do have the half-by-28 muzzle adapter on it to be able to use your suppressors and things like that.
Zenith Z-5P SBR
Has a B&T folding stock, which, Im a really big fan of B&T, they make awesome stuff, not so much in the civillian world so much right now, but they are trying to branch off more into the civillian market, the only minor detriment to running something like this MP-5 is the lack of Magazine compatibility with an actual handgun. Read the rest of 9mm carbines.
Best thing about the camp is that it takes S&W mags. I've got a couple of 30 rd mags for mine.
I’d still rather be carrying my Model 94 Winchester 30-30 than any 9mm. With Hornady FTX bullet it is a really great load. Not a 30-06, but closer than most think.
Even with 170 grain cast lead bullet it is an amazing hog gun.
Old fashioned? Yes, I am.
The thing I dont like about Winchester is the toneject. Much prefer Marlin with its side eject. That being said my Marlin in .357 Magnum is my grab and go along with the SW wheel gun. One round for both and sooooo much fun to shoot
The ultimate pistol-caliber carbine is still a .44 lever action, to me.
Of the half dozen 9mm PCCs I own my MPX SBR is far and away my favorite. It does yeoman duty shooting USPSA PCC division and is just plain fun to shoot. Soft shooting and reliable, it does have a few drawbacks, like stupid expensive magazines and a tendency to be hard on triggers. Sig is now shipping a competition version with a Timney trigger designed for the MPX, although I have settled on a Hiperfire. MPXs have also been accused of being too gassy when suppressed, although I have no complaints when using a Silencerco Omega 9k.
357 mag is a great load. That one would work pistol/rifle well.
Even in 6” barrel pistol they have some effective range.
Bought a camp carbine for my wife in the early days of our marriage, so she’d have a handy self-defense weapon at the house while I was traveling on business. She complained it was too heavy so I returned it and got a nice used S&W .38 stainless revolver with a 4” barrel. Kicking myself for not keeping both of them (the guns...still have the wife).
Based upon your review, if I come into a windfall, I will get one.
I do no competition shooting at all but I think it would look good in my vault.
The SMG UZI fired from an open bolt with a fixed firing pin, whereas the carbine fired from a closed bolt with a floating firing pin.
You wont regret it, but I suggest that you get the new version with the Timney trigger. The stock trigger on the older ones is, to be charitable, not good.
I’ve been looking at that photo for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time, and still cannot find the firearm...
Well if you watch her shoot or her dad shoot, they will likely be moving too fast to see the firearm in the video anyway. Lena is a nice looking young lady but I think she is about all anyone can handle. I wouldn’t be up to it, based upon what I read.
Yes, she most definitely IS a lovely and talented young lady. It seems you may have taken some offense at the way I expressed my admiration,
Well, I don’t care what YOU think, she’s a lovely young lady, with more talent in her pinky’s nail than exists in your experience.
My attempt at a humorous observation of that FACT is evidently outside your experience and comprehension.
My condolences on your inability to see genuine respect and admiration. Obviously it’s long dead.
Don,
I have re-read what I posted in answer and I am unable to see where I expressed any disapproval or negative answer to your post. If I did from your standpoint, I apologize as there was nothing intended by a good natured reply.
I have appreciation for women, young and old, in their looks, appeal to me and in their talents and skills. I took your comment as appreciative of the same things.
Burke
You and me both. The .44 M. is the realization of the trend started with the .44-40 and such.
Effective from a handgun, even better with more burning tube length and longer sighting radius.
I think so as well - surprised it didn’t. Maybe because of the bizarre stock?
Good to hear about the break down. I like the fact that you can flip the bolt/ejector if you’re a southpaw.

No.
This is the new one, came out last year. It can use Glock magazines, which is how I use it.
