Japan is now moving to encourage tourism there.
David Machado should consider a move to a southern or southwestern U.S. city.
I’ve laid odds this weekend that a depression is now inevitable. My metric of those driving current consumer spending numbers is overwhelmingly those drawing public salaries, be they in government or education. The contraction is in-play and it will get worse by the week, temporarily buffered by a lifting of restrictions.
But the damage is done.
I expect that the signs of a major recession will become more apparent by August at the latest, just in time to make 2 months worth of very nasty media headlines to destroy a Trump reelection. There’s half a chance of additional federal spending kicking it in the shorts, but I’m dubious, especially considering the long-term effects and the declining state of the world economy for obvious reasons.
Sorry, guys & gals: I just don’t see him winning. The deck is stacked heavily against him despite our support.
The big wildcard is whether the dems have an ace up their sleeve, as Trump actually has half a chance against Biden even with a 25% unemployment rate...if he lays off the damned Twitter BS (the Scarborough thing - among others - only hurts him).
I do hope that I’m wrong, but I am a pragmatic realist and will be doing my best in the coming weeks to get prepared, including figuring out how I can stay warm this winter in a worst-case scenario...perhaps the darkest winter of my life.
We should never forget those who are responsible for all of this.
The left is going to be ticked when they come out of hiding in 2021 to find out all their favorite restaurants, hair salons, and boutiques have closed.
What a pant load. Sounds like the bile from MSLSD.
I'm amazed at the number of people in general and posters in particular who make foolish statements about business. Especially small business.
Small business finances are a mix of business and personal. Banks will not lend and vendors will not extend without personal guarantees. So in the case of a business BK, any creditor has recourse against the owner's personal assets. The owner will be broke personally as well.
So when you say "come right back," with what? Small businesses start primarily on owner's credit. No sane businessperson would advance credit to a person in that situation.
These people won't be starting new businesses anytime soon.
The Market anticipates.
So you are saying we would have 25% unemployment and hundred of thousands closed businesses if there was no fake pandemic. Sounds like liberal logic you would see on CNN. Pretty pathetic.
Maybe there are financial alternatives for him. Since We the People let his business get destroyed so easily, why would he feel we even deserve his services? Why take the risk yet again just to get destroyed again? The emotional energy isn’t worth it. It takes far too much to create the business just for the people to demand the destruction of the
business.
this party hasn’t even got started yet, this is but a small step of what is to come. Hold on tight, it’s gonna get bumpy ahead.

Theres going to be a huge *demand* for US food this harvest. Many other suppliers are not functioning well.
But demanders will be broke. Gonna be interesting.
Sorry, left out a word.
I’ve no argument with people concentrating on the damage caused by the lockdowns.
Just pointing out that things will return.
I’m saying the pandemic is real. And I’m saying we would have had a lot of unemployment and business failures due to COVID without a lock down. It’s hard to say how much.
Airlines and Cruise lines weren’t ever under a lock down, but their business dried up.
Businesses would have struggled trying to keep staff paid with little revenue. An unintended side effect of the lock down, is that it gave certainty to businesses who were then able to reduce expenses.
Would the Federal Reserve have stepped in with a Payroll Protection loan in the absence of a lock down? I don’t know. I kind of doubt it.
What happens on the back side of the lock down? Will businesses be facing the same scenario, staff expenses with litte revenue? Or will there be enough consumer confidence, or simply consumer impatience following the lock down to restore sufficient revenues. I don’t know.
A lot depends on the new case numbers.
Sorry, but I still don’t know what you mean by the word demanders. Thanks!
Don’t lie about me.
I don’t believe I ever called for lock downs. I called for masks. I called for strict quarantines and travel bans. But once lock downs occurred I supported them. Even then I recognized that they would necessarily be short term.
I still call for masks.

Demander just the counterpart to a supplier.
Sorry, I was too ‘cute’!
