BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Wednesday was a tough day for Flor Hull.
Just a week ago, her beloved dog Ruffy was allegedly killed in her yard by a pair of loose pit bulls.
Hull's husband found their dog's body when he got home but cleaned it up before the rest of the family arrived. Hull brought herself to look at the pictures for the first time Wednesday.
The attack had an eyewitness. "As I came out, there was a pit bull running around that corner right there," said neighbor Raul Garza, who said the pit bulls went after him, too.

The pit bull breed should be destroyed. People are more important than animals and not a day goes by without humans being injured or even killed by these dogs.
If he had shot the dogs, then we’d establish that, yes, in fact, the dogs were out of the yard.
You can talk until you are blue in the face to people who want to kill the entire breed (or anything that vaguely resembles what they think might be a pit bull).
This is a sad story, but as with virtually all of these stories the real issue is a dog or dogs not under the control of the owner.
I had a golden retriever for about 14 yrs. she was often not under my control. never killed or even hurt anybody.
loose makes owner liable in my opinion and I like Pits and other guard-catch breeds
i keep my big boy on a electric fence...but I'm in the country anyhow...my problem is other dogs in his back pasture..so far he is ok but if another big guard male strolls in especially if a bitch is afoot then it will be a gruesome affair
note buzzbutton on collar his right side neck...100 lb 1 year old ABD..he is not nearly as threatening as he looks
I did see a Golden bite someone once and I think some folks have been bit seriously...though rare.
Goldens are like 70s granola cereal commericals...running thru a sunny meadow with locks glistening and kids squealing and young parents all beaming....chasing a floating frisbee with a big dog grin...that sort of thing
but some of us like guard dogs and like any other dog nowadays unless one lives truly remote...rare in middle TN where I live...then you have to fence or put your dog on a lead or run or in the house or with you...doesn’t matter what sort even though your point is accurate that some dogs can do more damage
just a heads up but most freepers believe what they want to believe and don't let truth or consistency hamper them
austere as the forum is, it's still comprised of hominids..in most cases
update pic on my boy
The gun control/dog control comparison often comes up when someone suggests banning or killing the breed. The pro-dog side compares the banning or killing of the breed to gun banning but they usually entirely miss, intentional or not, the main fact; guns are inanimate objects INCAPABLE of harm without human input, dogs ARE NOT. Guns and animals are not in ANY WAY comparable!
So? If she had bitten someone (and believe me there are goldens who will bite) would you then say all goldens should be killed?
And if she was not under your control often you are not a responsible owner. And by under your control I mean either on a leash, or on your property.
in the morning, kids from the neighborhood would walk past my place and down the road a little way to school. after school, the same thing in reverse. it didn’t take my dog long to figure out the schedule. in the morning she would walk to school with the kids and in the afternoon go and walk back. she eventually got the recess and lunch schedule down so she would go there and hang out at those times. one day i was looking for her and i found her running around the play ground with all the kids at lunch time. they had made her the unofficial school mascot. they had a water bowl with her name on it and the whole bit. the kids, the teachers and the principal were all in to it. it was hilarious. unfortunately, the days are gone where these types of things can take place.
Any dog will bite you under the right circumstances, but how many stories to you read about golden retrievers or German sheppards’ ripping limbs off kids and killing family pets, mauling grandma etc.
They were bread to do one thing, and they do it well unfortunately.
my dog never hurt anybody and if i was irresponsible, so be it. everyone enjoyed it and no one was harmed. don’t really care what anyone else thinks about.
