It’s odd seeing some of the men’s magazines from back then and compare to now. Now some of us may have seen it but one can websearch “Jem” magazine and there were a lot of “Men’s” magazines, weird stories about the Nazis and so on.

And in the popular media too but as was said above, probably not that readily available.

That’s back when men were masculine, and women were feminine with womanly figures (not the gay teenage boy/girl models of today) — Cultural icons and media reflected that reality. If that was all so bad, then what do we have today that’s so great as a replacement???

There were these kinds of magazines in the '60s, more hard core from appearances but a bit like Argosy which is missed and maybe True magazine. Maybe one would just call them adventure magazines, you can tell the cold war was on full force here. Maybe too, regulations as hit the comic books came about.

Re:
Gadzooks, Bead! Someone... slipped you a bogus copy!
I've been a faithful reader of "Jem" every since the onset of puberty... when I went from 30w to 5w30--
And I just looked through my copies of 'Jem' and found the correct... and proper copy
Your apology for all us Texan men... is expected ASAP--
Otherwise, my mechanic, Fred... will be over to rotate your ears and remove your lugnuts for starters.
Woodrow, you think an apology from Bead... is gonna set things square?
No, Gus, I reckon... I don't think it will--
Best get to grovelling, Bead, cause a really mad Texan... scares the living crap out of me!
Best do it, Bead! I've seen Fred's work and I... stay the hell out of his way!
Whoa, Bead. Even I know you really... screwed the pooch!

Looks like it is on this flickr feed, there were other Jem magazines but they were too risque. What do you want? There’s a hookah on the cover?
