Supporters of the winning Sydney to Hobart yacht Comanche have been attacked on social media for wearing Native American headdresses at the finish line in Constitution Dock, Tasmania.
The fans sang Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls and made stereotypical Native American war cries by tapping their hands over their mouths and whooping, as the American supermaxi sailed into the Hobart dock.
Social media users have accused team Comanche supporters of being racially insensitive and 'tacky' and called it an 'inappropriate display.'

But then, the Cheyenne often allied themselves with the southern tribes so some Comanche could have adapted a Cheyenne head dress.

Once, when the western artist Charlie Russell did an oil painting of Indians, he painted a Blackfoot Indian. One of his friends mentioned that the Blackfoot was wearing a vest with Cheyenne designs on it.
Russell’s reply was...”Son of a gun must have a Cheyenne wife!”
That must be it. Actually, I Googled Comanche headdresses a bit ago (which I should have done before first posting, but I was being lazy), and they did wear the full eagle-feather war bonnets. Now I know.
