George W. Bush to attend Trump’s inauguration
The Hill ^ | 1/3/2017 | Ben Kamisar

Posted on 01/03/2017 10:43:06 AM PST by orchestra

President George W. Bush and his wife Laura Bush will attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration this month.

In a statement Tuesday, the former president’s office said the Bushes are “pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power — a hallmark of American democracy — and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President Pence.”

The decision makes Bush the second living president to attend Trump's inauguration ceremonies. President Jimmy Carter announced his decision to attend last year.

President George H.W. Bush, 92, is not expected to attend. His spokesman cited his advanced age in a statement to Politico last month about the president's decision not to attend the inauguration.

President Bill Clinton has not announced whether he will attend the event after Trump’s contentious presidential race against his wife, Hillary Clinton.

President Obama is expected, as per custom, to attend inauguration events at the Capitol building before departing.

“Looks like somebody is starting to realize they are becoming an embarrassment to themselves”

Or perhaps Big Media promised to air his “response”.

Why should he? He’s not a former President.

Why shouldn't he. He's a big wig. Former governor and failed candidate for the same office . I'm sure there is a place for Yebbie and his diminutive wife. These are the kind of people invited and welcomed. It's part of the game.

If Obama really wanted a legacy, he should put on a big red MAGA hat and walk out and shake Trumps hand as he’s leaving...and promote the peacef....

Oops..did I nod off again!

Recent pic, down in the Dallas Mancave. Doesn't look like a brownie recipe-swap to me.

Yep, him and his black brother BJ will be sitting on Obama’s side. Laura said she didn’t vote for Trump. None of the Bushes should ever be invited back to the WH. They’ve shown their true colors far too many times.

You and me both, brother.
It is my belief that George P. Bush was the real reason the GOP did not challenge Obama’s ineligibility.
His mother was still a Mexican national at the time he was born so he is not a natural born citizen.

I find Carter less annoying than the Bushes. At least we KNOW where he stands. We only found out what a bunch of snakes the Bush clan is during the general election. He is probably coming to shill some special interest group in the Middle East - like the Saudis.

"I hope he keeps up his tradition of keeping his mouth shut about the current president’s policies."

He probably will, due in part, imo, to the Bush dynasty's plans for "P", whom they've been calling "46" for several years now.

Also, don't forget this bit of bet-hedging from last August (George P. urging Texas Republicans to support Trump):

I suppose President Carter, who plans to attend, is in better health than President Bush 41, since both of them are the same age (92).

True. If Bibi sat directly behind Barky, imagine how much fun he could have playfully kicking the back of Barky’s chair just to annoy him.
