Just asking.... what would the roads have been like if Houston totally evacuated? It wasnt until Thursday when the magnite was fully realized. Bottom line, our roads and infrastructure is not set up to handle a mass evacuation from such a large city. Infrastructure is set up for average needs. This should be a reminder to all to think about. Especially if "other" things prompt an evacuation, like a missle strike from N. Korea.

Well, women used to care for their aging family members at home, lol. To this day, when I go into a supermarket, I look around and see middle-aged daughters shepherding their mothers around the store. And some of those moms are mean! Occasionally, I'll see a man doing the same thing but it's rare.

With all the wild critters in Texas, I have visions of rattlesnakes, dangling from the trees!

If you fight the plight of the elderly “amusing” then yes, you are bad bordering on evil.

It looks like someone photoshopped the flood waters in a pic of some old folks home living room...

How did they not get electrocuted? Two reasons. Required Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters on wall outlets and the Maintenance man can cut off all power. I used to work maintenance in nursing homes.

The state and federal agencies sending these facilities money should require a workable evacuation plan for disasters. A nursing home may have 50 patients or several hundred. Evacuation may be difficult but it is possible with a plan put in place before hand. This should include a means of transporting. 75% are likely mobile enough to load into a bus with minimal assistance the rest may require stretchers.
The mayor didn't order the city evacuated but he could have ordered medical facilities evacuated and the state could and should have as well.

Looks that way to me too. Also I find it hard to believe that they would sit in water like that and not be yelling or trying to move. It is odd.

i’m skeptical of that pic. i’m thinking it was either staged, or photoshopped as no reasonable staff would allow their people to sit in water like this - they’d be moved upstairs at the very least

The photo has never made sense to me but people insist it isn’t photoshopped.

If I were a resident or a relative of a resident, I would sue the hell out of this owner! She was negligent and apparently had NO contingency plan for avoiding a catastrophe that was FORECAST for weeks! This was criminal negligence

Yep. This is a 500 year event. A plan for this? What would the cost for this ‘what if’ scenario have been? Who would have voted to spend that much?

You are so right... My mother when she married my father at 25, she openly took my father’s father in. This was just after a month after they got married. My Dad’s sisters refused or came up with excuses not to do so. My mother cared for my grandpa for three years before he died.
My eldest sister took in my mother the last ten years of my mother’s life. I would have, except my mom didn’t want to go to Colorado. She liked California.
So true about babies and the elderly, many people just don’t want to be around them... SAD.

I wish it were photoshopped because I am pained that we could do that to people. Shocking.
