Pregnant woman and service dog punched in airplane scuffle in Orlando

59-year-old man punched a deaf pregnant woman and her service dog inside a Frontier jet upon landing in Orlando on Friday, Orlando Police said.

According to a police report, Timothy Manley was travelling from Colorado Springs, Colo., along with his wife Petrini Manley, 56, and Joshua Manley, 27, all from Gainesville.

Petrini Manley complained of being allergic to dogs as the plane descended and was being taxied to the gate at the Orlando International Airport. The service animal, a Great Dane, woke up and Timothy Manley told police the dog “took up more space than [he] felt it deserved.”

Timothy Manley then punched the service dog, Zariel, causing it to yelp. The dog shook its head and hid under a seat, according to the police report.

The 21-year-old woman and her 30-year-old partner, who is also deaf, tried to yell at Timothy Manley as best as they could, the report indicates.

Police said Timothy Manley then got into the man’s face and punched the woman, who is about 20 weeks pregnant.

Two officers arrived at the scene of the scuffle as Timothy Manley passed by them, saying “It took you all long enough to get here,” according to the report.

as i recall they were called krunchies(large breed) by blue seal mixed 50/50 with eukanuba along with some table scraps

and one day a week a large can of wet food mixed in

i made sure his bowl was full from the day we got him letting him know it would never be empty so he quickly got into a rhythm of nibbling now and again but mainly eating when we ate

he was strong boned and full but no fat

I’m sick and tired of nebulous service animals. I propose that Congress prepare a law that requires Legitimate service animals be clearly identified on their vests exactly what legitimate service they perform, within a limited pantheon of services. Any animals with vest that read “Service Dog” etc. with no clearly demarcated service are subject to expulsion from whatever building they are in.

Comfort animals are not allowed in public areas. Get a teddy bear.

Me too.

The airlines, through their business association, need to set the rules for service animals.

The airlines have tried to be accommodating but the public at large takes advantage of their generosity.

How about this. “In the interest of all of our customers. All pets, including service animals are required to travel in cages in the hold of the aircraft.”

There are disabled people, blind folks as an example, who trust their very lives to their service animals. A service animal is not a pet. A comfort animal is a pet.

The definitions of service animal and comfort animal have become blurred, mostly by the comfort animal people pushing the envelope that should never have been pushed.

It takes many months of rigorous training to prepare a service animal to do it’s job. Not so with a comfort animal.

I have great respect for people with true service animals, like the blind. However, exactly what service does a dog provide a blind person on an airplane?

The dog cannot guide the person to their assigned seat. There is not nearly enough foot room for a dog below the seat.

I postulate that the vast, overwhelming majority of animals at airports are simply pets, and frankly I’m sick of it.

Kroger’s brand puppy chow. never mind the dog is an adult. He wants his puppy chow he gets it. Fried eggs several times a week. and table scraps by the dozen. Spoiled upon spoiled.
