Couldn't agree with you more. Service ducks, service anything - unless you actually need a seeing eye dog because you're blind, this service animal bullshit is just an excuse to take your pets with you. Stop pretending that it's anything else.
So tired of the pussification of America and everyone bending over to other people's "needs" at the expense of everyone else.
Dude! Your statement is one of those the-light-bulb-just-turned-on moments. Well said.
I’m going to ask my wife if I can get a ‘service’ girl to help me with my stress.
Two ducks are not going to pose a noise or smell problem. I say the complaining neighbors should be ignored.
Geese have taken over an area in a park a couple of blocks from our house. They roam wherever they want, crapping all over. If they feel like it they wander into a busy street, stopping traffic.
Waterfowl are not pets. Get the kid a dog.
Agreed. I have a nephew who was diagnosed as “borderline” autistic. Its just rationalization for him being loud and out of control.
Well it’s good to see that they’re helping a special needs kids and not just protesting about how horrible men are...
what?...
ooohhh service “ducks”...
Never mind.
I’d laugh my ass off if their neighborhood was infested with a plague of Canadian geese.
Then they’d really have something to whine about.
Yeah, they make it sound as if the boy and ducks are being persecuted; the fact is they are pooping on other people’s lawns. I am sick of these pretend “emotional support” animals. It would be different, but still against the neighborhood rules apparently, if they kept them confined to their own property. This shouldn’t even be a question.
Meanwhile, in the crazy-ass Bay Area, we’re suffering through a spike of salmonella outbreaks because the nuts here think raising chickens in their backyards is so rural-urban chic or sumthin’.
I am embarrassed for some of the responses here. My grand daughter has autism and it is very real She is 7 years old and
nonverbal. She is nearly impossible to potty train. I wish she had a duck that she was interested in.
I love ducks.
Geese, or “Cobra Chickens” as I saw once on Facebook, suck.
Ducks make me smile. If this kid lived in my neighborhood I would be slipping his family bags of feed and vitamins for the quackers.
We had a family of new Chinese immigrants detained by police at our suburban park, to the horror of a children’s birthday party, while they were instructed that the ducks were protected and not game animals.
You never know how an austic mind will attach to something. So here are my notes on this:
1. they (this family and neighbors) back up to a body of water
2. ducks (wild and domestic) are attracted to bodies of water
3. so, what do these do-gooder HOA nosy idiots do with natural ducks defecating on their lawns?
Maybe he's not comfortable around dogs? Believe it or not, not everyone loves dogs. I can't stand them myself. I'd rather have ducks.
We had 2 ducks on Long Island. The neighbors loved them.
Fine. But would you let it freely poop on your neighbors’ lawns? That’s what is happening. Birds are incredibly messy, and apparently against the rules there, since it’s like a farm animal.
Have you ever walked over grass or sidewalks where geese have been? It would be about the same.
I sympathize, to some extent, with all parties. Perhaps, for their son’s long-term benefit, the parents could explore moving somewhere that he could raise ducks or other farm animals as a hobby. There’s a market for the eggs and down.
I want chickens in my back yard.
I raised chickens growing up. I know just how dirty the things are, and to wash the ever living heck out of all eggs, meat, and stuff. I also raised, hogs, cattle, ducks, sheep, and I can’t remember what else. Most of which we then slaughtered and ate.
Something tells me the Bay Area chickens are not going to be the broiler hens I want to raise.
Wife and kids say no because they don’t want to butcher them. I loved fresh chicken, and don’t mind doing the work from start to finish.
