No, back then, you'd see them as the freaks, geeks, weirdos, retards, and others. But they weren't diagnosed Autistic, just called names and beat up and treated horribly. And those were the boys. The girls were seen as good girls as opposed to nice girls.

They've been there, but only now is there a medical decision on their behavior and how it can be handled and coped with.

I know of them. I'm married to one. I have a family member who is one, too. You'd never know unless you live with them since acting out is the last thing they would want to do.

Those of you making fun of kids with disabilities make me ill. Lots of parents including me and other FReepers here are raising kids with neurological problems like autism.

Just because there is an epidemic of autism currently, and there was not one when we were kids, doesn’t give you the right to act haughty about this. Environments change. The prenatal and the infancy environments definitely have in the last 40 years. It’s a sad thing to see a child look so sweet and try so hard but not pick up any of the signals humans need to interact.

I have a friend with a daughter who was like that.
Went from shut down to going to college and doing public singing because of a Doberman.

Hope you get a miracle like that too.

Yes I did but HOA’s have, how do I say it? A species of animals that that are not agreeable.

Their first mistake was moving to a place that had a HOA!

People in HOA’s get their knickers in a wad over the darnedest things.

One man who was a vet was living in one wanted to fly the American flag. Well someone was “offended” so they told him it was against the HOA’s laws. He fought, think he won but still the thought that would be a “rule” is nuts and shows you that HOA’s ought to be banned.
