NASA Is Preparing A 17 Year Old Girl To Become The First Human On Mars

Alyssa Carson fell in love with space when she was only 3 years old and now is making it her life’s work to be the first human to land on Mars.

The 17-year-old is training to be on the first NASA trip to the Red Planet, where she says she’ll spend two to three years.

It started with “The Backyardigans” — a TV show that features an episode called “Mission to Mars.” After watching the episode, the rest of her life would be focused on all things space.

“My dad had to go through everything with me. It was the best weekend of my life. I learned everything about space that I wanted to know. I kept going every year,” Carson said.

As of now, the mission to Mars is scheduled for 2033. They will travel in the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and use the Orion spacecraft.

“With the current technology, it will take 6 months to get to Mars. We will stay there for over a year because we have to wait for the planets to align together and then it is a nine-month trip back,” Carson said. “It’s a two- to three-year mission in total.”

Carson says she wants to make new discoveries and learn more about Mars. She says she will be looking at the water samples, seeing if they can find any signs of life and uncover the history.

“To understand what’s going on there and what resources we can find,” Carson said. “It’s something that I think is super important for us to accomplish.”Alyssa CarsonAlyssa Carson, 17, is preparing to be the first human on Mars (Photo: NASA Blueberry)

Until the mission to Mars, she will continue preparing and building her resume. Right now, she’s working on getting her pilot’s license, underwater survival training, scuba diving certification and more.

“Follow your dream. When I was three saying I wanted to go to Mars, it was absolutely insane. But now, I am out here doing actual training,” she said.

You can read more about her here.

Well, I actually did read the article. I found it rather upbeat regardless of the outcome.

All of space exploration has been a suicide mission and some of them never left earth or the atmosphere. Some almost made it back only to be scattered over E. Texas. (I vividly remember that day).

There is nothing on Mars. We are beyond insolent as a nation. CUT THIS OUT!!

They said the same thing about the Wright brothers, they said the same thing about the moon and they have been saying the same thing about deep sea exploration............

Fortunately nobody listened to your negativity...........

That was my thought - “She’s privileged because her family paid for her to go to space camp!”
NASA will find a flaw with her and start training a black Muslim transgender “boy” to do the mission.

Holland’s colonization mission will already have been on Mars for seven years before she gets there.

It is more than just shooting a person in a tube to another planet. You need to find somebody who can be psychologically equipped to stay in that tube for 6 months without wanting to end it all by opening the hatch. You also need somebody who can keep himself occupied during the entire mission by doing hundreds of small experiments.

#32: "I am absolutely opposed to this. There is nothing on Mars. We are beyond insolent as a nation. CUT THIS OUT!!"

I'm with you on this. We couldn't even exploit our trip to the moon. After all the roads and bridges are fixed and the 20 trillion dollar debt is payed off, and all the fires are out, then maybe we do it. Or maybe not. In any case it's not a priority.

It's really just a "make work" program for scientists government employees.

My wife and I were just trying to do the math on how big the trailer needs to be for the Tampons or pads to get her through the trip there and back. It will have to be bigger than the spacecraft it’s self. There ain’t no getting around this biological fact. They might as well stop the funds to this one, it is already a fail from the get go...

“...as to how groups of astronauts might cope with various human feelings...”

You mean they feel the need to study that? No wonder we have to hire the Russians to get us to the space station.

Wow a GIRL astronaut, we’ve never had one of THOSE.

Such a giddy poorly written article, that actually sounds more like something from those old Tiger Beat magazines my sister used to read as a teen.

My first thought is, this is not going to end well, it was a PC choice and this is the very first manned Mars effort which is no place for that.

I would rather have my tax dollars spent on prosecuting Hillary than going to Mars. Without the rule of law it all comes down.
