A woman who found her engagement ring before her boyfriend proposed complained about the 'basic' band on social media - and the internet is not happy.

'Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF's nightstand. Not a fan,' the woman wrote in a Facebook group.

'Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different,' she added.

This guy had better take that “basic” ring back to the jewelry store for a refund, and run, run far away, as fast as he can. If he goes through with it after such a massive red flag showing him exactly what he’s in for, he’s an idiot and deserves every miserable moment of what’s coming.

Sure...I agree that could be true.

For my part, if I have to go into my wife’s things, I make a deliberate point of not looking at anything. I work in IT, so I am used to sitting down to work on someone’s computer, but am able to put on blinders so narrow I don’t see anything else except for what I am looking for. It is kind of a mind set.

I figure if my wife wants something in a drawer I don’t normally go into, if she wants me to see it, she will tell me.

I don’t know why a modern woman would expect such a traditional gift. Why is she waiting to be asked? Why isn’t she gifting a valuable wristwatch and asking for his hand in marriage?

My brothers first wife liked, but, ah, not really the engagement ring he gave her. She wanted a different set and this changed and that etc... We all told him she was the town whore and not to marry her and the ring thing should have been even more a bad omen, but he didn’t listen.

It lasted less than a year when she was brought home by a co-worker staggering drunk and he was all over her and she essentially admitted her screwing around. Then said brother had the nerve to ask our family how come you all didn’t tell me about her! Duh! Love is blind as a bat.

Didn’t give my missus an engagement ring.
We bought our wedding bands at...a pawn shop on the cheap.
She couldn’t have been happier.

Mr. mm had mine resized for Christmas last year. Now I can wear it again, but only do so when we are going out.

I don’t wear it around the house when I’m shopping, for example.

The wedding band is on, but not the engagement ring.

I also only wear my engagement ring or anything but my wedding band if we’re going to a special event. I wouldn’t want to have to remember I have a ring on before I (for example) wriggle my hands into the bowels of the church copier to clear a jam.

I can understand that. My default principle is that I have nothing my husband isn’t welcome to see. If I want to surprise him at Christmas, I can just say, “Please don’t go in my closet: I bought you something and don’t have it wrapped yet.”

That approach works too! Basically, never try to hide anything, that way it can’t be “discovered”!

you, my FRiend, are Blessed. It’s becoming very rare nowadays for a marriage to last a lifetime without death or divorce intervening.

My daughter and I found a science activity where you can create your own diamond using a microwave.

Put a bread roll in there for 2.5 minutes?

LOL no on the bread, I think it’s graphite (don’t know for certain because I do not have the project with me).

She was and I did.
Unfortunately the Lord wanted His angel back.
I do have terrific memories though.

I know a guy who designed his wife’s ring. There was no engagement ring; the wedding ring was platinum, with a big blue sapphire. If I recall, it’s a star sapphire. She was thrilled; still is.
