Very poignant video ad produced by the Tennessee Department of Tourism. Apparently TN has installed special viewfinders at various scenic overlooks that enable the colorblind to see the view in color. The reactions as they see the fall leaves in color for the first time are really moving. Enjoy!

That video made my screen really blurry.
What an amazing invention, AND experience, for those who suffer from color blindness.
Thanks so much for posting.
LIVING IN COLOR
EnChroma color blindness glasses can have a profound impact
on how people see their world. See for yourself.
If either the M or L cones are missing you'll be very red-green color blind. If one or the other is weak or if they are shifted to be closer to each other then you'll be moderately color blind. You'll be able to see bright colors like fall leaves but miss out on subtler variations.
Yeah, mine got blurry too :)
Pretty interesting how those glasses work.

They notch out a portion of the spectrum that causes color confusion in colorblind people due to overlapping red-green response. I wonder if that’s what these viewfinders are doing.
I did some quick googling and it seems they are using the same technology as the glasses mentioned earlier — i.e. passive notching rather than video saturation of colors.
I’m seeing refurbished Enchroma glasses on eBay for around $250. Still pricey but not quite as bad.
Also there are some other brands selling for under $100. Some appear to have nearly clear lenses with only a slight bluish sheen. Presumably they’re using the same tech as Enchroma but you do wonder how they got around the patent.
interesting indeed
the article says they use enchroma lenses
Oh my gosh.. my eyes are so blurry.
Man that felt good.
I am a deutan in the electronics/computer business. I get very ill-tempered when asked “is the LED red or green?” and I have to answer “It’s ON, that’s all I know, OK?”. I have been aware of this technology for a while now, but it just occurred to me that it just might help with that question. I might get a pair and expense them. Does anyone have any experience with these glasses?
The glasses actually filter out a narrow band of where the red and green overlap, giving more definition to the remaining colors. It doesn’t work for everyone.
I might be wrong, but I think the video rotates from uncorrected color to a colorblind view for those with normal color vision, to a corrected view for the colorblind.
