This is not happening.
Not missing, still there.
And how would the States an counties afford that?
Its not like any state has millions kicking around.
Well, that and the fact that those Western states didn't want the land when they became states.
Here in Colorado, there is a pretty fair amount of BLM land that would be suitable for sale. In fact, 35 acres right beside my bug out site (that I would love to see go up for sale).
They already own good portions of the cities’ buildings and properties, thru various corporation, entities or directly.
High time we sold this land off...
Why would I want residents of some far away state deciding the fate of land that I'm a part owner of?
Is there a bunch of federal land next to Pelosis vineyards? Sell it to someone who will build high density low income housing.
Sell some farmland cheaply to some persecuted ranchers first and derail some Senators’ pet projects before selling other lands to cover the wall.

ROFLMAO!!!
Sell ANWR first.
How much revenue does one raise with a 100% tax?
Most Federal land is not anywhere near $5k to 10K more like $500.
Mexico, the Philippines, China....
“And how would the States an counties afford that? Its not like any state has millions kicking around.”
The way I imagine it would be the Secretary of the Interior sells the land to the State or County for like $ 5,000 or $ 10,000 per acre, and then the State or County could turn around and sell land that they want to sell for like $40,000 per acre. That would win approval.
But if they don’t have the money, then it could just be sold to private buyers.
.
Constitutionally, the Fed Gov cannot own anything but the specified reserves.
The land in the western states to which the Feds own Fee Title, they do not own any surface rights, nor any water rights.
Who would pay anything for land that has no surface rights?
.
“A lot of this land will be worth a few hundred an acre, I suspect.”
Well, I am assuming that a sale would have to cherry pick the most useful and attractive land, that is atypical of just wilderness.
