Yes. There really is a Hell, and a lake of fire.

It was created for Lucifer and his angels, but those who reject God will have to spend somewhere for eternity, and since that will be the only place without God, that is where they go.

Before the comments about why not destroy those souls, keep in mind that each of us is made in the image of God, and a destruction of the soul is destruction of part of God. God respects that image we have of Him, and will not destroy it.

Matthew 10:28

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Who said that?

Jesus.

....in fact Jesus spoke and warned more about hell than ANYONE in the Word of God.

....are YOU listening?

...your eternity..... where will you be?

Listen to this message of clear warning and hope.

Blessings.

There has been a proliferation of teaching lately of the "Hebrew roots" variety which denies the traditionally-held view of hell. I listened in fairness and had to reject it. It teaches soul annihilation, not eternal punishment. I think that "where the worm never dies" pretty much settles it.

No, Hell is not real. It was an invention of Roman Catholicism to scare people into obedience. Most importantly, Hell is NOT a translation of Gehenna, Sheol, Hades, or Tartarus in the New Testament.

You know where you were before you were born?
That’s where you’ll back to when you die.

I believe in Heaven, so I must also believe in Hell as well as Purgatory.

Hell is very much real. Christ spoke of it. We are teaching through the doctrine at church right now.

“...be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Two things: That scripture suppoorts the annihilationist view and, the word “hell” is a made up word. Jesus said Gehenna. It’s a real place he was using as a metaphore for utter destruction, not torture.

And a lot of people miss this, but in the bible, “Gnashing of teeth” means a person is bitterly angry.

I think that “where the worm never dies” pretty much settles it.

That particular scripture is an excellent example of the challenge both sides have with this.

What is “the worm”, and what does “never dies” mean? How one answers those questions will give you a clue regarding their perspective on “hell”.

i.e. it only settles it, depending on one’s interpretation and understanding of the root source and culture from which the phrase comes.

The Holy Spirit declares:

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Hebrews 10:31

If there is NO hell......then why does the Holy Spirit warn us that it is a FEARFUL thing to fall into God hands?

No one will repent in hell. Its to late. Forever.

Christ never once mentioned hell. He did use Gehenna as an allegory or analogy, though. He did that a lot.

Hell is a made up word and means different things to different Christians. For the most part it means death/hades/sheol.

There is definitely a Hell and I’m doing everything I can in this life so I don’t go there when I die.

Listen to the message cubanleaf....take Gods warning. Understand that is love and grace are tied eternally into His Judgement.

I do think the context is perfectly clear, as well as it being read in conjunction with other scripture on the subject.
