Two young men were found dead inside torched cars. Three others died of apparent suicides. Another collapsed on a bus, his death ruled an overdose.
Six deaths, all involving men with connections to protests in Ferguson, Missouri, drew attention on social media and speculation in the activist community that something sinister was at play.
Police say there is no evidence the deaths have anything to do with the protests stemming from a white police officer’s fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, and that only two were homicides with no known link to the protests.
But some activists say their concerns about a possible connection arise out of a culture of fear that persists in Ferguson 4½ years after Brown’s death, citing threats — mostly anonymous — that protest leaders continue to receive. …

There probably is someone, or a group of people with lists, and old videotapes of the riots, the looting and the shrieking of curses at cops. I’m not saying all cops are angels and always do what’s right. No. They are only human and nothing more. I’m only saying that people who experience such events as ‘Fergusson 2014’ often have very long memories.
I recall living through the 1967 Detroit Riots.
Many, many businesses were destroyed, family incomes ruined forevermore. These business owners had nothing to do with the mood of the day. They were only easy targets.
A lot of suspicion and bitterness remained after those few violent weeks. What’s different now, is that we have the internet, many ways to film the action and post it for the world to see. Social Media is full of people bragging about crimes that they got away with. So that provides another resource of info.
Only the dullards at the AP could be this stupid.
Hmm ... Apparently they all wanted to be just like their hero, Michael Brown.
Exactly. Are their deaths statistically out of the norms for people of a similar sample size and life style? I bet not.
Perhaps the FBI can investigate this.

The Chicago police have a formula that predicts whether someone will be murdered. The accuracy is astonishing. It involves the number of arrests and whether the person was arrested alone or with others. People arrested with others are not only engaging in risky behavior, they are doing so with others. This multiplies their risk of being shot.

Violent thugs came out to riot and loot when social order broke down in Ferguson.
The riots were caused when gullible people bought into the lie that the cop - Wilson - had gunned down an innocent black man because of the color of his skin.
That was a lie.
These were NOT civil rights heroes - it’s NOT 1964 - the rioters were common criminals... Crime is a dangerous occupation - deaths are fairly common among the criminal class...
If AP’s Jim Salter looks deeper he’ll see that most of the people involved in Ferguson riots (not the protest part - the ‘riot’ part) had criminal records, come from fatherless homes, and have death rates similar to other criminals from similar backgrounds.
Like an apple falling from a tree, striking you on the top of your head.

Well duh. They lead violent, disordered lives; it’s no wonder they sometimes meet violent, disordered ends. It’s like homosexuals who engage in “rough trade” and find themselves badly beaten or worse. No mystery.
Those extra hundred bodies probably were due to a variant of “shot, shovel, and shut up.”

Activists say that in the years since the protests, they have been targeted in dangerous ways.
“Something is happening,” said Cori Bush, a frequent leader of the Ferguson protests. “I’ve been vocal about the things that I’ve experienced and still experience — the harassment, the intimidation, the death threats, the death attempts.”
Bush said her car has been run off the road, her home has been vandalized, and in 2014 someone shot a bullet into her car, narrowly missing her daughter, who was 13 at the time.
She suspects white supremacists or police sympathizers. Living under constant threat is exhausting, she said, but she won’t give in.
“They shut us up and they win,” Bush said.
