Scientists Find Possible Traces of 'Lost' Stone Age Settlement Beneath the North Sea

Deep beneath the North Sea, scientists have discovered a fossilized forest that could hold traces of prehistoric early humans who lived there around 10,000 years ago, before the land slipped beneath the waves a few thousand years later.

The discovery gives the researchers new hope in their search for "lost" Middle Stone Age — or Mesolithic — settlements of hunter-gatherers, because the find shows that they have found a particular type of exposed ancient landscape.

"Deep beneath the North Sea...could hold traces of prehistoric early humans...because the find shows that they have found a particular type of exposed ancient landscape."<

So they haven't actually found any evidence of actual humans, just an area deep under the sea submerged for 10,000 years that looks like it might have been an an environment that might have attracted ancient humans. Sounds like a little bit of a stretch and a long shot to me. But anything to get continued funding, I guess...

Too bad they didn’t mitigate global warming back then. The seas started to rise and there was no stopping it.

I think that is why there are no stone age people left today. They were so ignorant of physics that they all drowned.

I always found fascination in the old coal mines deep under the ocean floor under my ships keel in the North Sea and off Ireland.

Stonelantis ?

Maybe they used Mammoth Bladders for Air Storage. I remember hearing about Buffalo Bladders were used for Canteens. While fresh from the kill it was washed out and then blown up and dried, then used.

Kinda “odd” but sounds reasonable. Sort of...

The Wizard: Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!

Hmmm. Perhaps Robert L. Howard was actually communing with a Lost Shade. He said that Conan spoke to him, and that he merely wrote it down.

My thought exactly. Way back then it was just part of nature. Now we have to do something about it.

The neolithic discussion went something like this:

"Hey Oog! You know if you keep killing those mammoths we are going to have global warming and the sea will rise."

"Nah Maklak, If I kill them they stop farting and that is carbon-neutral. Besides mammoth trunk is really tasty. My wife, Alexandria, loves it"

"Well, OK Oog. She really does have the chompers for it."

"She sure does! Say, you don't think her farts would hurt the planet do you?"

And that is how the sea came to rise...

They are missing the big story here. Proof of man made global warming and rising sea levels.

Great post and, to my tastes, the best beginning to a film hands down.
