I live in Missouri. We have Constitutional Carry laws here so I can carry any way I wish. I used to not be a fan of open carry. I felt like the bad guy is always going to take out the person who visibly has a gun. Also I felt like open carriers were "showing off".
Now I'm starting to feel differently. I usually tuck in my shirt but don't like IWB holsters. I can simply get to the gun easily if I wish to from my simple but effective Bulldog belt holster.
Is open carrying becoming more common? Do you open carry? If not, why not?
The reason I don't open carry, (Lets say in Wally world, shopping, in restaurants, etc.) is it brings unnecessary attention on yourself. I feel it is smart and enhances situational awareness to maintain a very low profile. It gives any person much more flexibility for an appropriate course of action in a high risk or dangerous situation.
God Bless Them too!
Love em’!
LOL this is Israel. Love it!
Personal reasons.
Young women college should cc look at the increasing number murdered recently
ROFL !
And the guy was in South Phoenix - probably the worst part of town. I haven't been down there in a few years and have no plans to go back. I doubt much has been done to clean it up. There were like ten things the guy could have done to prevent this, from using a decent holster to driving to the other side of the I-10 for lunch.
The old saying “An armed society is a polite society” carries much weight.
I prefer to carry concealed, although in Texas, we can carry either way.

I live in Texas too (God Bless Texas). Texas is not a constitutional carry state. Open Carry requires a CHL. Ive had my Texas CHL since the first year it was offered but dont open carry. In fact, I have yet to see anyone doing open carry here in Texas. So, must not be very common.
I’ve had my license since the first year as well. I’ve seen a few open carry, but not many. Sometimes, if open carrying here on the ranch, I need to go to the local gas station/store for something i just leave my gun on openly, but I normally carry concealed.
I don’t open carry here in Texas because I don’t need to. If things get rough though, I will.
I haven’t seen anyone open carry here, much more common in rural areas.
Open carry is not allowed in IL unless you are law enforcement or active military on base. We have concealed, but it’s very expensive and meeting the requirements is also expensive and time-consuming.
I haven’t gotten into a class yet. Money has been tight.
Here in MO too have never seen it. Also permitless carry does not overrule town laws against open carry. Can be misdemeanor. They cannot van concealed.

A definate uptick here in Colorado. Most times it hardly gets a reaction. I see it as educational and a conversation starter about rights. Besides, anything that causes the left to be triggered is likely a good thing.
Third try sorry.

Towns cannot prohibit open carry with concealed permit but still not seeing it. Only do it myself in town when I forget to tuck over it.
Been open carrying since 98. Job requirement. Only have had one strip attempt, knock on wood.
But I never carry open when off the clock. IWB four oclock and have never had anyone see it.
Or at least speak of it.
The only place I don’t carry is in a federal building with metal detectors.
A couple things of things to keep in mind if you open carry.
25 percent of all cops murdered with firearms are done with their own weapon. That’s despite training and retention holsters.
Most robbers case a place at least some before they hit it. 40 percent of the time they have a standoff guy in the place to take out heroes.
I really like open carry for one major reason. To re-normalize the sight of a gun as being common. When I went to high school, every pickup in the parking lot had a gun rack in the back window with a rifle or shotgun in it. Now days people would probably call the cops on you.
We need to work on normalizing the idea of guns everywhere and out in the open. It is the right to keep and bear arms, not the right to keep and hide arms.
It is funny how far we have come (and not in a good way). It used to be guns in the open were seen as good while hiding them was considered to be nefarious intent.
New Mexico has open carry in it’s constitution. I open carry in the rural areas, and carry concealed in more urban areas that have a higher percentage of bed wetters.
Concealed
I prefer the element of surprise.
