Apparently the Chinese govt believes it, as they have ~50M people under partial or complete lockdown.

“Someone wants to distract us from China’s imploding economy.”

It doesn’t seem that faking/overstating a pandemic would exactly help their economy.

Time to wake up. Lancet study showed that of the 41 initial cases, 6 or 15% died. 100% got pneumonia. Only about 30% of those 31 have been release from the hospital.

How many of the currently infected are going to die? With an R0 of 2.6, even a quarantine of an effective rate of 99% would only slow the transmission rate by a third in areas outside of the quarantine areas, so how many ultimately will be infected?

Quarantine is the only tool available to stop the spread, and with this transmission rate and incubation period, it looks like that may not be possible.

Even if the death rate ends up being much lower, and the rate of those contracting pneumonia much lower, how much can any nation’s system handle?

"The virus first finds a “host cell”, climbs inside and begins replication. Then that one (or 10) cell explodes several days later to infect throughout the body.

If it's presence in the host person is limited to being on the *inside* of 1 (or 10) cells for the first several days, then the host can't spread the infection to others during that time.

That could only happen "post-explosion" when infectious material spreads to the respiratory tract, right?

New - Student at Wesleyan Univ., Conn. https://fox61.com/2020/01/25/wesleyan-student-being-evaluated-for-possible-coronavirus-was-traveling-in-asia/

The two and possibly 3 being monitored in TX are also college students. Think about that for a minute.

The US just today brought in one plane full of diplomats from there. Expect more planes as there’s at least 1000 “diplomats and US citizens” the WH is getting home.

The implosion will happen, but they can blame the "pandemic" vs fundamentals so foreign investment continues to flow in.

Yes, this is spectulation. But so is the underlying basis for this being The Big One.

It would also mean that an infected person would not be detected reliably and would be released into the population to infect later.
