I've seen it before, but am watching it again. Is anyone watching (or has seen) "The Men Who Built America"?
Phenomenal. Brilliant, innovative (and RUTHLESS) men who helped make this country.
Oh, it also includes some commentary by (then mogul) Donald Trump!
Evil capitalist robbers and thieves. Who eventually employed thousands and thousands of folks.
Ha ha. True dat.
Have seen it several times. Not completely accurate, but very entertaining.
At least there aren’t any references to ancient alien astronauts.
“You didn’t build that!”
We loved it...need to watch again.
I watched the series a while back. I thought it was pretty good. They could have done a better job of picking actors who resembled their characters tho.
Which episode is on? The Steel Giants. The Railroad Giants, The Oil Giants?
I found it slow moving. 5 minutes to give some blurb about the railroad or oil industry, then 5 minutes of commercials.
Thanks for that!

Laborers in Andrew Carnegies mills worked twelve hour days, seven days a week. At the end of each week was the long shift. That was when you changed between the day shift and the night shift. Your long shift was 24 hours long.
Yes, anyone could quit at any time, and try to get a job somewhere else. No doubt about that. But I have no respect for anyone who wouldnt give their workers a day of rest.
Oh, and one more thing. Carnegie gave to the local churches. But his donations came with a string attached. There must be no mention from the pulpit about the biblical day of rest.
One thing which intrigues me is all these foundations started by very conservative men like Carnegie and Ford were later taken over by extreme leftists who used the large endowments to push liberal causes.
There was another iteration of the series called H2 version. I liked it better.
"The Men Who Built America and the Free Traitors That Sold it Out and Tore It Down."
Six days
I believe it was six days a week until the Homestead strike was broken. Then Carnegie upped it to seven days a week. A few details are here:

The long gone and missed History International comes to mind.
I learned to like the Naked Archaeologist show. How accurate the guy was I couldn’t say.
Perhaps soon all the old stuff will available on streaming.
