At the Coffee Shop
Me | March 15, 2020 | ProtectOurFreedom

Posted on 03/15/2020 9:08:34 AM PDT by ProtectOurFreedom

I've been away from California since before Christmas. I moved to our house in Idaho, which we bought two years ago, to work on improvement projects and got back to California a week and a half ago.

I got up early today (Sunday) and decided to go have breakfast at my favorite coffee shop in Los Altos, CA (San Francisco Peninsula area not far from San Jose). I got there just before 8 and was the only customer for a while. Julie, the owner, was telling me how her business is really taking a hit.

I finished breakfast about 8:40 and was sipping my coffee. Some customers had arrived and I was reading today's news when in walks a Chinese-American couple in their 60s and sits down in the booth next to me. Julie walks up to welcome them (she nows everybody in town) and asks "How was your cruise?" Fortunately, they weren't coughing and hacking, but I quickly paid and skedaddled back home instead of lingering over a couple more cups of coffee.

When was the last time someone caught opioid addiction, from another person?

Not downplaying that crisis, at all....just pointing out that one disease is highly contagious.

The other is not.

It’s “The Village Pantry” on Second Street between Main and State. It’s in one of the few remaining 1940s buildings in town, a real throwback. I love the old charm of the place. Don’t be put off by the building or interior — the people and food are great. Just look out for other patrons who just returned from a cruise.

Which project are you working on? They just started remodeling the building across First St. from Safeway. There’s a huge amount of construction in town now, but I expect that is going to dry up real soon.

Place is empty, so a couple who just got off a cruise plunk down next to the only other occupied booth. Idiots.

This political virus and “crisis” was a Hail Mary for the left and #NeverTrump and they very well may score a touchdown. The longer this goes on and our society weakens,it becomes increasingly difficult for the President to be re-elected. We have about 60 million morons who will vote to hate Trump and other asinine one issue agendas.

Small businesses all across the country, the world for that matter, will get crushed.

Your favorite restaurant from two weeks ago will be gone in two months.

This will shake our economy worse than 9/11 and perhaps worse than 1929.

All small business with take a massive hits. We are going to probably have record bankruptcies of small business. Even the big boys will be hit hard, but have the money to somehow survive. I tuned the stinking weather channel to check if we will ever see the sun again down here in Alabama and they were taking about the airline industry taking several billion $$$ in massive hits this year. They showed a tape of Grand Central in NYC from yesterday. There were maybe five or six people walking around in there. They said on Saturday, it is normally packed. Now, nobody was in there, traveling around. No schools, no colleges, no travel, no massive gatherings, no sports, college spring sports canceled, world wide sports shut down, curfews by crazy mayors who think people will be out from 10 pm to 5 a.m., thus the big need to keep those millions home in bed and not out partying. Silly. Most are home in those hours anyway. Walmart closes 10 to 5 also. It is normally not that busy in those hours. One guy I know works a lot in those hours at our local WM and he says they are not that busy anyway. A few 2d shift people stop in on the way home, etc., but not the hordes that come during the day. People are still going to have to shop to eat, pay bills, etc. Cabin fever is going to be the next national crisis!! Millions suffering from beating their heads against their walls!!! Sports nuts going nuts over no ball games. Will have to drink that beer, if they can sneak out and get it before the curfew police catch them!! Enjoy the new life style of 2020 Amerika.

Some restaurants could mitigate this by doing take-out/delivery service. The waitstaff can remain employed by transitioning to delivery people. Eventually, people are going to get sick of eating canned beans at home.

Jeez....my inlaws moved from Ventura Co, CA (TO) 2 years ago and now reside in CDA, ID. They think this thing is still in China and they are immune. They have about every co-morbidity you can imagine and won’t listen to my wife about getting ready for long quarantine. Hell, they aren’t even cancelling their WEEKLY doctor visits...

How will deliveries be made to these restaurants?

How are their suppliers going to be supplied?

The Supply Chain will break in a matter of days.

Didn’t Trump cover that during his National Emergency statement? That he would keep supplies flowing even during a national shutdown?

The place is very small and there are only four booths along the wall by the front window. But they did NOT go sit in the back room which is maybe 30 feet away.

Yes, idiots. Of course, why are they out of their home in the first place?

Suicide and Opioid crisis have had far more legions of deaths to their names and long ranging and lasting effects on society. Think even just of the babies born to heroin addicted mothers. Melania Trump has drawn awareness to them by visiting hospitals treating these babies.

And we all have a lot of repenting and self examination to do over the sickness of our selfishness and the blind eye we turn to our fellow man on a daily basis. “Love thy neighbor” means caring for the souls of others. We are souls eternally, our bodies are temporary.

“The closure of thousands of small businesses will have a long lasting effect and will elect the swamp puppet Joe Biden. The media did what they were asked to.”

I fear you may be right. And Biden is only marginally less a communist than Sanders. That won’t matter one bit, of course, because his Veep will be POTUS in short order. Biden won’t know his own name in a few months.

The media didn’t even have to be asked to do what they do...they just KNOW what to do. I doubt the media owners or even the top-dog editors gave marching orders to the writers. They KNEW what to write and the exec chain top-to-bottom tacitly endorsed it.

“worse than 1929”

I’ve been thinking that about three or four weeks now. We could be in for a SERIOUS and long depression. It was a nice two-year retirement while it lasted.

If you get a chance, try the Cup and Saucer on Blossom Hill, just west of Meridian.

Yeah my grandmother chewed one callous nurse out at a hospital and died that night of an “accidental” overdose.

Best time treat the pharmacology types with a kid glove.

Our second home is about seven miles north of CdA in Hayden Lake. Reports from a friend yesterday in CdA said that the local Costco is SWAMPED with people from Spokane (35 miles west). The locusts in Spokane denuded the Costco there and moved east to clean out the CdA Costco.

Our friend has a Costco Corporate Card which gets her into the store an hour before the normal opening time. She arrived at the store yesterday morning an hour before the early opening time and she was #250 in line! The lot was full of Washington plates.

Idaho got its first five cases yesterday and they are all in the southern part of the state.
