Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.

— 10th plank of communism
What, AP propagandizing for communist principles and against the family? Whoda thunk . . . ?

See?

You can’t do it yourself, you must have the state raise your children........

The Left HATES homeschooling and wants it to fail. But homeschooling is a great alternative, MUCH better than government schools and homeschooled kids usually excel - something the Left doesn’t want.

How I loathe and despise the Left.

“AP” = All Propaganda.

Yep. My first thought was “propaganda.” Can’t have those liberal indoctrination centers threatened, after all.

Wow. She tried for a whole week. Such tenacity.

My daughter home-schools. Several of her friends have realized, with their kids being home, how poorly educated they actually are.....there are at least 3 new home-school families because of this in her small area. These are families paying $15,000.00 a year for private Christian school! These younger teachers have been brainwashed into the child-centered, whole language, self esteem nonsense.

Uhhhhh....yyyeahhh.

Just one question, Ape Pee. Didn't these parents attend public schools themselves? Why is it so hard to for them to pass along what they learned?

Unless they didn't learn anything worth passing along in the first place.

I read this and think “Your child does not respect you, basic kindergarten math is too hard for you or your child” — is that too cynical?

If not working soon, I will be home schooling my two grade school-aged kids. Difficult due to the 14 hour time difference via Skype or FB messenger, but doable.

A lot of these parents are probably having to work from home.

So trying to mix work at home with home schooling isn’t going to work out very well.

Image a family of 3 or 4 living in a 1000 square foot apartment every everyone is online trying to work/school.

Not the ideal setup.

These people don’t know how to teach their own children. Pretty pathetic. Just read to them. Have them balance your checkbook. Have them color pictures. Teach them about life. Go to you tube and get free piano lessons. Have them watch history videos. Read the Bible.

This is where the public schools have failed, dreadfully deficient at treating parents as partners.

Sarah Karpanty, 44, a mother of two middle schoolers in Roanoke, Virginia, said the reality kicked in last week when spring break ended and home learning began. “I wanted to get into a fetal position and hide out,” said Karpanty, a professor of wildlife biology at Virginia Tech

Professor? Oh, my.

Wusses. We home schooled eight over a 25 year span. There was a three year period where we had 7 students studying 50 separate subjects.

It was a good experience.

For parents to go from a set school schedule to distance learning, with everything else going on, is not easy but it is not impossible. What is interesting about this whole experience are some of the following that come to mind:

1. The media are mass-manipulators
2. School/College is filled with BS, feel good assemblies, other indoctrinating subject matter. This is shown by the length of the day and workload remote vs the time they were going to school
3. Most of the states in this country are broke and have been wasting money for a long time.

This is a perfect time to introduce children to reading. Turn off the TV and let them read whatever they want all day long. Even if it’s Harry Potter. Eventually, they read other things. Let them download some Kindle books if you don’t have a home library. The biggest favor a parent can do for a child is to have them develop a life-long love of reading.

Distance learning is not homeschooling
It is the opposite.

Pub schools the dept of education will obfuscate this to retain control. Duh
