Reigning Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles pulled out of the team finals on Tuesday after struggling to land a vault, telling NBC’s “TODAY” show that while she feels good physically, things “vary” from an emotional standpoint.
“Physically, I feel good,” she told Hoda Kotb in an exclusive interview after her withdrawal. “Emotionally, it varies on the time and moment. Coming to the Olympics and being head star isn’t an easy feat.”

I feel some leeway is due here from her existing track record. She’s proven her guts and tenacity for almost a decade. This is a bad mark on her legacy though. Phelps never quit on himself or teammates.

Sounds like mental distress. I think some groups could be pressuring her to go woke. Remember, she is adopted and raised by white parents.
Everyone gets a trophy. You did great Simone, you’re the best, you’re wonderful, you’re so good that you don’t have to tolerate this nonsense.

I think she only withdrew from the team competition thus far. There are still the individual events and all-around. I don’t know enough about the team competition to know how it’s scored to know if there was any strategy around the withdrawal.
