People here at FR sure have gotten mean these last few years. I don’t think this athlete has ever shown any anti American symbolism. Yet many here flame her after she reached an athletic level most here could only dream of.

Personally, if you look back over the week, I have noticed that the smile is gone...no makeup, to speak if, etc. She has not been herself. I wondered if she and her man broke up or had a serious argument. While I think she is in a class by herself, the spark has been lacking all week.
As for her remarks, I think you have to understand that under pressure, one doesn’t always come out with a well thought answer. When interviewed in the past she comes across very well, not conceited, but with a lot of confidence. Whatever got to her this week has thrown her off her game. I’m sad for her, but this does happen. “Life” happens and not always when there are so few consequences. Should she have realized that she was off her game earlier and given up her spot? Maybe and maybe not. Tenaciousness causes one to go on when it looks bad, and sometimes one pulls it out in spite of the problems.
I see what the problem is here.
Head case. She will be lionized as a hero. She withdrew so as not to hurt the team. Will she participate in the upcoming indvidual events including the all-around?
Look Simone, just shut up. Ok, you had a nervous breakdown and that sucks. You are still the GOAT. Nothing you say can look good and will only tarnish you in the future. On January 18, 2018, Biles released a statement on Twitter confirming that former USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar had sexually assaulted her. She also named USA Gymnastics for having an alleged role in allowing the abuse to occur, and for subsequently covering it up.
In September 2016, Biles opened up about having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) after her medical records were leaked online, revealing that she had been taking Ritalin, used to treat the condition, during the Olympics. Having been diagnosed as a child, she had previously disclosed her condition to the World Anti-Doping Agency and obtained a medical exemption, allowing her to take her medication during competitions. In her statement, she said that ADHD is "nothing to be ashamed of and nothing that I'm afraid to let people know."
Someone has to be, based on her appearance it’s probably a skill she needs to be good at...
It’s the Big Show Simone. It’s what you trained for so long and hard. Quitting in the middle of the events? Finishing what you start is good for mental health and well being. Who is advising and coaching her in this fiasco? Get some extra rest and a long night’s sleep but quitting is the worst decision at this juncture.
That’s all fine, except for the teammates who probably won’t be back for another Olympics, this was their shot at a gold because she quit they didn’t get it...
I can’t remember a time in the past when a real superstar in their sport just up and pulled out citing mental issues.
Recently we’ve had 2, Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles, it’s not all about her, it’s about the team and she screwed them out of a gold....
No worries, she’ll continue her career as BLM spokesperson and woke loser.
