Simone failed to go the extra mile....opted to quit. It’s really what she has done...and in doing so affected the entire US Team. She should be ashamed.

Bottom line; she’s still just a kid.

There were several Olympians competing who were quite a bit younger than her, and they received gold medals. Momiji Nishiya from Japan is only 13 years old! Ahmed Hafnaoui from Tunisia is 18 years old. Lydia Jacoby from Alaska is only 17 years old. I don't know what happened to cause Simone's meltdown, but it is such a great pity; she is so talented and usually such a great competitor.

The true GOATS thrive when the pressure is greatest. This “NO MAS” routine in the middle of the fight dims that considerably.

“That’s all fine, except for the teammates who probably won’t be back for another Olympics, this was their shot at a gold because she quit they didn’t get it...”

Yep. And it happened. She let the team down for the first time. Have you ever let the team, or anyone, down? I have. You have too. It sucks. It happens. She plays on such a big stage that the whole world saw it happen. That it happened will not define her - how she responds will define her. And all of us.

Who was the young girl gymnast that competed in the Olympics with the hurt ankle?
They wrapped it up and she gutted it out.
The US TEAM would not have won without her.

Actually she made a costly error and might be worried that she would again, costing the team points. She “only completed 1 ½ twist on her vault when she was supposed to perform a 2 ½.

Is her age the problem? In the age of Nadia Comanice and Olga Korbut, it seemed that female gymnasts peaked at age 16 or so.

She basically said she wasn’t feeling it so she would let the rest of the girls handle it?! Quitter.

Exactly, she gutted it out injury and all....

In today’s culture, it’s all about me the individual, not for your team or country.....

Simone Biles will be fine for the individual competitions and probably win gold medals, proving she quit on her teammates.....

True Dat.
Simone will end up on another Wheates Box.
Her team mates will be lucky to get the “key to the city” in their hometown.

The media has been pushing her for a while, for one reason only. It gets tiring.

She’s already “woke” as is the rest of the team.

Kerri Strug

Gold Medal TEAM Champion from the 1996 Olympics.
The coach picked her up and carried her after her vault.

Mykayla Skinner’s husband Jonas got pissed about this, but then quickly retracted his statements.

Mykayla is also 24, was not selected for the 2012 team, was 4th place at the trials but was wrongly passed over for the 2016 team & served as an alternate, and was picked for the 2020/1 team as an individual competitor, not part of the team competition (although the selection committee admitted she gave the team a mathematically better chance of winning gold — figure out that one!)

In 2019, after a stellar NCAA gymnastics career, she decided to come back to Elite gymnastics and try for the Tokyo Olympics. To do so, she paused her university studies, endured injuries, got covid, and contracted pneumonia.

Mykayla made the team on guts and determination, and she had an excellent qualifying performance on Sunday, but missed out on making the individual all around competition or any individual apparatus finals. Through it all, and despite wanting to many times, she never quit and never gave up.

In a just world, Simone Biles should withdraw from the rest of the events and allow Mykayla a shot at Olympic glory.

Sure, if you have ever competed in a team sport, you have screwed up at key times which probably cost your team a win....

But I know one thing for sure, I never quit on my teammates......as another poster said, she wasn’t exactly Storming the Beaches of Normandy....

Want to say it’s only black athletes (James, Osaka, Biles) who are pulling this “quitting for mental health reasons” baloney, but some white athletes are beginning to do the same thing. Weak, woke, crybaby culture.

I don’t carry water for the Károylis — they have much to answer — but when they ran the USA and Olympic women’s gymnastics teams, they didn’t put up with any of this “mental” horsesh*t. They would say suck it up and go, or get out! Biles needs some tough love, not a bunch excuses being made for her.
