Aspartame is 200 instances sweeter than desk sugar.

That's why they can use a lot less of it.

Found on the web

Espresso has 63 mg of caffeine in 1 ounce (the amount in one shot), according to Department of Agriculture nutrition data. Regular coffee, by contrast, has 12 to 16 mg of caffeine in every ounce, on average. That means that ounce for ounce, espresso has more caffeine.

Right. Let’s see you drink a 12 ounce diet Coke after 6 PM and then try to sleep at night.

In my youth, I could have four cups of coffee after 6 PM and sleep just fine. Even now, an evening caffeinated beverage doesn't interfere. Different people are built different.

Different chemicals do different things to different people.

If I need a energy jolt I have a cup of ginseng and that seems to clear out the cobwebs.

I do drink coffee and tea but for pleasure.

Tab was the original diet Coke...

Coca-Cola made Tab and originally sweetened it with mainly cyclamates with a tiny bit of saccharine as well.. this was
a truly great tasting diet soda!

Then they banned cyclamates and they sweetened Tab with just saccharine and it was like fizzy dishwater :-/

When I lived in El Paso I would go to Juarez to eat a lot.
They would have tubs of ice with 16oz glass bottles of Coke sweetened with beet sugar... AMAZING soda!

Dos hamburguesas, papas fritas and an ice-chilled 16oz Coke.
Best lunch ever :-)

She started drinking it in 1982. In those days it was made with saccharin, making it not much different than 1982 Tab. When Nutrasweet came on the market, Squirt came on board first, then Diet Rite/RC100 and Diet Pepsi. Diet Coke was last using a mixture of saccharin and Nutrasweet for years, as Aspartame in those days cost a lot more than saccharin. The restaurant mixture (where there are no ingredients labels) included saccharin in the mix even longer.

Google Translate perhaps.

There are enough colorful expressions in there, that I thought maybe she started in English, and ran it through 3 or 4 languages (English to Russian to French to Finnish back to English).

I worked with a guy that would go through a 6 pack of Tab every night he worked. I didn’t know that they still made that crap.

I knew Espresso was stronger (1 oz. ≈ 6 - 8 oz. coffee, depending on the coffee). I used the alcohol analogy because a 1 1/2 oz. shot ≈ 5 oz. wine ≈ 12 oz. beer.

I drink a cup of coffee before bed to give me the strength to sleep.

See post 36. My point is that caffeine is a stimulant.

Actually, many people do indeed feel drowsy and sleepy after drinking caffeinated drinks. Why? Because caffeine messes with your sleep/wake cycle.

So to think one is able to drink caffeinated drinks late at night with no effect yet wake up the next day and drink coffee to stay awake and alert it’s just foolishness. Doesn’t work that way.

Exactly. I don’t even drink coffee anymore because I really don’t like caffeine. To drink a caffeinated beverage in the evening is asking for trouble.

Coffee and Coke were great when I was in school, but now? Not so much.

Good luck!!! Heroin addicts say it’s easier to give up heroin than it is smoking. But I thought it was caffeine. Never mind!

But you can do it! My grandfather, after decades of smoking it, gave it up cold turkey. My husband gave up smoking because while I was pregnant, he would smoke outside in the cold and got a terrible flu. He didn’t smoke for three days. Then he felt better and started to light a cigarette, and he said, “Why am I taking this up again?”

Seriously, best of luck and let us know what happens! You can do it!

Why did it take so lengthy?

That's what she said.

**Coffee will be with me forever.
———————————
Me too. Forever and ever. Amen.**

My wife is requires coffee as well. Coffee stains in the car are simply unavoidable. I have asked her to start drinking that ‘cup for the road’ about 10 minutes before leaving the house, because by the time she has been in the car that long, she’s finished it off. 43 years since our vows (as of 7:00 tonight), and she still won’t obey her husband on this issue.

Though retired as of April, I drove big rigs for most of the last 19 1/2 yrs, and didn’t need coffee, tea, soda pop, or any other ‘suppliments’. And yes (before electronic logbooks 4 yrs ago), put in many crazy long days.

My secret? Power naps. Just 10 minutes, when noticing fatigue setting in, can really work wonders. I would find a spot to stop, set the alarm (keeping it out reach), flop in the bunk for 10, get up to turn it off, make a quick inspection round outside the truck, and roll. I probably saved thousands of dollars not drinking all that stuff.

Some days I wouldn’t need a nap, somedays I might have needed up to 3.
When I was ready for a nights sleep, nothing would (and still doesn’t) inhibit it. My wife has always been amazed at how fast I can totally relax and conk out.

My accident free career is partly because of neither hand holding something that can’t be tossed aside at an instant. I also hate to burn my tongue.

When Chynah invades South America and cuts off the coffee, I will not notice it as a problem. Lol

Seems to be written by someone not accustomed to the English language. I see where it could be in certain sentences a translation mistake. My guess is it’s a Chinese person writing in English.
