Based on...what? Humans lived on much lower calories for thousands of years. Only in the past two centuries have Westerners been told they need "2,860 calories per day" or what have you, by the USDA or other incompetent authorities who were likely lobbied to do so. And obestity rates EXPLODED. It's all a lie. We do not need this many calories at all, and intermittent fasting is critical to good health as well.
People would look like Monty Burns...
It’s a great way to crush your metabolism and become amazingly weak. I’m currently “cutting”. I’m at 2000-2500 calories.
These people are insane.

Green with envy. I love golf, only sport I watch on TV. Took lessons years ago but I’m so astigmatic I couldn’t find the ball. If I had better vision, I’d play and need to eat more than 800 calories..
Eat twice/day and often forget to eat. Don’t count calories and don’t need to. When the idiot governor closed the gyms where healthy people go to stay healthy, I lost muscle tone and my appetite. Getting back into shape gradually and then may need “more than 800 calories” per day.
I think forgetting to eat may be part of aging. Same old food, year after year, boring. Natural Grocer is helpful, just moved into my ‘hood and have shelves full of delish stuff that suits my food prejudices: no gluten, no pork, no this, no that. Their stuff is pricey but delish. It’s noon here and I’m enjoying chicken sausage links and gluten-free toaster waffles with butter and pure maple syrup. Yum.
IF is good, particularly down to a 4-6 hr feeding window. But 800 is obviously unsustainable past the rapid weight loss phrase. Even Okinawans pre 1960 averaged 1500-1800 a day. The longest lived people on earth and aren’t vegetarians by any stretch.

Yes. I know all about lean gains. He loads up on large amounts of BCAAs right before the workout at the end of the fasting period though.
That is a good point.
All this is creating is disordered thinking about food.
People have such a bad relationship with food. Almost like enjoyment doesn’t enter their minds. I often say, “we think so much about ‘not dying’, we have forgotten about actually ‘living’”.
Great question!
I believe we already have them in very tiny amounts and the diet completely changes up what dominates.
I agree and it’s crazy. I sort of flip flop from mainly Paleo nutrition to actual Italy foods.
I bust my butt lifting, swimming, and sprinting, so I remain lean/muscular.
