Ben Affleck tried to sell his sprawling Greek Revival “imitation” plantation — the site of his elaborate wedding to Jennifer Lopez Saturday — three years after revelations surfaced that one of his ancestors was a slave-owning Georgia sheriff.
In 2015, the Hollywood actor tried to suppress details about Benjamin Cole, a relative on his mother’s side who owned several slaves in Chatham County, near his 87-acre Hampton Island property. Affleck purchased the property in 2003, according to reports.
The revelations about Cole were made on PBS’s “Finding Your Roots” hosted by Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.
Affleck put the lavish property, which includes a deep water port and a 6,000-square-foot home known as “the Big House,” on the market for $8.9 million in 2018. He lowered the price to $7.6 million the following year before taking it off the market, property records show.
Built in 2000, the property was designed by Atlanta-based architect James Strickland to resemble a southern plantation. It also includes a 10,000 square foot guest house and equestrian facilities.

Actually I was reading an article about this yesterday and Baffleck’s mom did fall into the swampy swamp before the ceremony. (She’s okay and I don’t know if she was drunk or not.)

I’ve been to a garden wedding in Atlanta in July. It was NOT a good idea. My son was about 4, in a cute little suit (he was ring bearer). He made a break for a nearby pond it was so hot. He’d have made it, too, had my FIL not grabbed him by the coat tails!
Weird that we never see stories about descendants of black slave owners being called out for what their relatives did, of which there were many apparently.
Also, wasn’t the vp’s relatives slave owners? Guess there is a double standard on the left... shocking I know.

Why doesn’t the media mention today how Bidens open border policy is returning slavery to the USA in droves? A lot of these illegals end up enslaved to the cartels for bringing them over the border and they end up paying them off for life. A lot of them get stuck in the USA unable to return to their countries because they are broke.
I read out in the Hamptons in Long Island NY where just about every rich liberal owns property, the illegals have to camp out in the woods because they can’t afford housing. So it’s even WORSE than slavery in the past. This time their Democrat slave masters won’t even pay for their housing. If the Republican party had any brains they would be exploiting the hell out of this

We just watched a home makeover show and the crew was hired to renovate a modern stucco 9,000sf house owned by an NBA player. It had large round pillars at the entrance way.
Of course the player’s wife had to make it known that this feature triggered her because it made the house look like a plantation and she didn’t care what they did as long as they got rid of those pillars.
So what if an ancestor was a slave owner.
Do his descendants still own them?
Are the descendants of those slaves still slaves?
Why pick that scab unless healing isn’t the goal.
The current citizens cannot be held responsible for the actions of their ancestors.
