Chick-fil-A launched their new cauliflower sandwich on Monday, but some are already complaining about its hefty price tag.
The sandwich has a starting price tag of $6.59, according to USA Today, but many are claiming it cost them more than that.
The new dish, which is being tested in three markets — Denver, Colo., Charleston, SC, and North Carolina’s Greensboro-Triad area — is the restaurant’s first plant-forward meal. On Chick-fil-A’s website, they describe the sandwich as a “tender filet” made from cauliflower that’s then breaded in their “signature seasoning” and pressure-cooked in their 100% refined peanut oil.

We always buy the cob salad.
What is everything have to be a sandwich, or made it look like a burger patty?
FWIW I think tempura cauliflower is pretty darn good and they could probably sell that and skip all the other procedural junk that goes into making a stoopid-patty.
MacD is developing a meatless nugget.
Veggie burgers are full with a lot of chems which sort of takes away the meaning of it all. Onion powders, garlic powders all kinds of junk goes in those things.
After all that effort, R&D, and testing and everything, they don’t even taste all that great.
Black bean soup with buckwheat noodles Korean Style OMG...
Fast food restaurants are becoming a caricature.
If I’m on the road and I want something quick Taco Bell bean burrito no onions no cheese. I get two of those and it sits in my belly and my belly goes yesssssss...
“They’re the best chicken sandwiches and have been forever.”
I’ve had their chicken sandwiches twice both times the buns have fallen apart in my hands because they were stale, the hostess told me that’s the way they’re supposed to be... I was a cook I know what a f****** bun is supposed to be like and it doesn’t crumble in your hands while you’re trying to take a bite out of it.
“About 15 years ago they went ultrawoke.”
yep ... dumped their fantastic cole slaw and replaced it with a slew of bizarre salads, things like Asian Fusion Salad ... all very expensive, small portions ... never went back again ...
I didn’t know Chick-Fil-a was around anymore. I quit going there a few years ago when they flipped the finger to Christian organizations and told me I should shine BLM shoes.
Haven’t been back.
Kale tastes like dirt.
MacDonald;s put out a seaweed sandwich years ago called the Mac Lean... it failed. Companies that listen to their progressive critics are fools. Why? Because progressive don’t eat at MacDonald’s or Chick fil A... and fast food places would be better served if they listened to their customers rather than their critics.
WTH does that mean?!
Regards,
No Popeyes around here but when I lived in Texas their shrimp Po- Boys were awesome.
Never listen to anyone who uses the phrase “pre-prepared”. It is as bad as “orientated”.
Yep, cauliflower sandwiches. Right up there with broccoli-popcicles and peas on a stick. Yum. I could just devour some roast hogweed.
It's been may observation that pretty much all fast food places have seen a decline in quality of their food. Staleness, dryness, blandness seems to be universal.
The decline happened gradually over time so we didn't notice it as much but if you were to take a time machine back to any of the fast food chains during the 1980s, you wouldn't even recognize the food from what they're selling today.
I'd attribute is mostly to cost cutting in labor. These places operate with a fraction of the crews that they used to leading to more ahead of time prepping and storing their products in warmers where they dry out instead of cooking them fresh.
They probably know the bird flu pandemic is being “cooked” up and are trying things.
I know, this went from a sandwich to politics in a split second. LOL
This. When I worked at McDonald's about 50 years ago, the burger patties went straight from grill to bun. Now they cook a lot of them and then stick them in heated drawers until it's time to assemble the burgers. The difference is very noticeable.
And yes, there were easily twice the workers during busy times.
My local supermarket has fried chicken that's cheaper and better, and is also closer to me.
Or to parents who happen to have a "I'm VEGAN this week!" kid in the car.
Beyond Vomit! But we better get used to it. The people in this country will be looking for anything to stuff in their mouth in the very near future.
Wgatevs, daddio. Nice stick.
