LOL! Oh my God lol lol! OK now THAT was a bad day! Oh man that would have given me nightmares for years.

Yeah I liked the job as well but they would only give me part time. After the planes were unloaded in the morning they would send us home so I really didn’t care when they canned me.

I almost got killed driving there one morning, I was driving down the Van Wyck expressway going 80 mph like a lunatic while there was ice on the road and I hit a bump and the car started sliding and I lost control and I headed straight towards a cement light post and thought “God, make it quick and painless” and at the last second the car somehow veered to the right and the rear hit the cement post ripping off the bumper and I came to a stop and I just sat there for half an hour my legs shaking, left the bumper and drove off lol lol

That worker was obviously not paying attention. He probably thought the starboard engine was off.

Actually, those painted spirals are to mitigate birds strikes. I don’t know if there’s any empirical data to show how effective they are, but that’s why you see them on some airplanes and not on others.

When the spirals are spinning, they’re supposed to make the inlets look like eyes on the birds of prey.

"What is this thing"

It's the bait. People walk up it, to get a closer view; and Poof.....they're sucked it.

New regulations are not needed. There are Lines painted on the ground, that "humans" are not allowed in,when an engine is running. People either "shortcut", or are not properly trained.

“To Keep Employees Alive and Aircraft Intact, You Will: NEVER approach an aircraft to position ground equipment next to an aircraft or open cargo bin doors until the engines are shut down and the rotating beacon(s) turned off.”

“Hard to get those cages around the engine while the plane is moving.”

Man ingested into engine while installing engine safety cage.

This is sort of what it looks like emptying the lavs from a plane. Since it is such an undesirable job, the "newbies" are usually the ones doing it. At least that's how it was in the 1980s. The water hose is being used to flush all the debris down the larger hose, which goes into a holding tank.

I never had a problem again ensuring the hoses were clamped tight!

My boss was more upset due to all the paperwork he had to fill out to report the incident. Plus, both vehicle and the tarmac had to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected.

Suicide? Maybe thinking it would be a very quick death. Head first it certainly would.

Yes. Suicide. A friend of a friend worked the scene as EMS. There are security cameras showing this was no accident. He deliberately walked out of his way into the engine.

It’s to hypnotize ground workers, to cull large numbers of them.

We have too many of them, you see.

Yep, apparently handed their wallet and watch to a co-worker before heading directly towards the jet engine.

I was a Blue and Yellow Shirt.

I saw a video of him after they released him from Medical with his injuries. He and the Captain sought to remind the crew about Flight Deck Safety even in wartime.

Thanks, I was just curious.

He should have become the Poster Man for Jet Aircraft Safety for the rest of His life. Usually an experience that one doesn’t get a chance to pass on to others to NOT DO THIS !!!
