The new recruits came from a variety of backgrounds, but they shared one thing: after rudimentary training in western Europe, none of them expected to be deployed to an assault unit at the hottest section of the Ukrainian front line. Some had signed up voluntarily, thinking they would to be given places in units that suited their profiles: as drone operators or artillery men. Others were plucked from their villages with little warning. One older recruit didn’t even have the chance to pick up his false teeth. After less than a week in the trenches of the Donbas, in eastern Ukraine, the platoon of 20 had been reduced by six. Three had been killed in action, three seriously wounded.

Without any sarcasm at all, I find all the promotion of monetized YouTube channels troubling. Pro-this likes their and dislikes the others, while pro-that likes theirs and dislikes the others.
The whole thing is a cottage industry, and Google / YouTube chuckles all the way to the bank, taking a tiny 45% agency fee for hosting.
Of course, it's a cottage industry, with so many begging "click! Support! Donate! Buy my merch!"
And many YouTubers have offered various versions of "affiliate programs" to reward the secondary promoters. The same holds true for monetized X-Twitter accounts.
The clearest proof of the various discrepancies is the simple comparison with coverage of the Hamas/Israel conflict, with on-site reporting by major media, and the "coverage" of the Ukraine/Russia conflict being "content created: by YouTubers from all sorts of locations nowhere near the fight.
"Click! Support! Donate! Buy merch!" Not to mention discounts on VPNs and the like. Business is business, and the "wargasm" business is big business. With "affiliates."
