Ron Paul is the kind of man I can easily envision being at the Continental Congress, or the Constitutional Convention.

Very few people get that kind of praise from me.

recognizing that it’s the virtue and morality of the people that allow liberty to flourish

***********

Also underlying our success as a nation were shared cultural values, confidence in our institutions, respect for our laws, and a deep love of freedom. This all combined to allow liberty to flourish. But now our culture is being systematically debased on every level. The ethos and values that made us great are rapidly fading away. Reversing this trend is going to be very difficult, if not impossible due to the profound changes our society is undergoing. Its seems slowly, and now suddenly.

“Very few people get that kind of praise from me.”

***********

Where are the statesmen? We have lots of politicians, firebrands, bureaucrats and apparatchiks but almost no principled leaders with foresight and courage.

The charlatans and grifters, however, are legion. Maybe people should start voting on the basis of character, convictions and results instead of rhetoric and lies.

Why is there such an avalanche of Ron Paul pronouncements in FR in the past week?

Few people on this site know more about Ron Paul than I do. I grew up in his district. His OBGYN partner delivered both of my sons. I personally knew one of his sons, and volunteered for the first campaign for Rand.

I actually also volunteered on Ron’s Presidential campaign in 1984. I FOUGHT to get Dow Chemical PAC money donated to him, and voted for him OVER my personal HERO, Ronald Reagan. I love me some “Dr. No”.

His words hold up well today, and I don’t mind hearing them. But, I have to wonder: WHO is posting all this stuff, now... and, why?

Why not? He’s still got a voice. He’s Rand’s dad

If you must know Rand posted this to his twitter I thought it was interesting.

Also, it’s in the public domain we can post it here (no copyright)

I thought it’d be interesting for anyone to read while bored over holidays

Nothing more to it :)

Also, did you know a lot of Freepers LIKE the long posts and to read transcripts rather than watching or listening to a YouTube video.

Count me in that group. I nearly always prefer a transcript to having to watch a video. Having both is the best, of course, since the video has inflection and gestures and facial expressions that are lost in plaintext.

I stopped watching TV in the 70's, and instead read voraciously. My wife is the opposite -- she is a TV/video watcher and avoids reading more than a one-sentence summary of anything she can watch instead.

Hooray for transcripts!! And thank you, RandFan, again.

> [I] voted for him OVER my personal HERO, Ronald Reagan.

My all-time favorite modern political figures (heroes, if you will) are Barry Goldwater and Ron Paul. You may recall that Reagan's political career really got off the ground in 1964 when he was supporting Goldwater against LBJ.

Goldwater made the sad comment that he was heartbroken when JFK was killed, not just because of their friendship, but because he had looked forward to debating with someone of that intellectual caliber. He had no such respect for LBJ.

Ron Paul (and Rand) represent the best modern voices for the principles of the Founders. It's sad that there is no one among the Democrats who is anywhere near their level, that they could debate meaningfully. Ah, well.

I tend to do most reading here believe it or not. It’s a great resource to have. Most sites are full of Ads etc. and highly annoying now.

I like to share what I can and as long as I’m allowed:)

There’s nothing more to it than that (Tim).

By the way I upgraded my twitter to Premium + so I see VERY little ads there now.

Twitter/X is getting better and worth it I feel.

I’ll be damned if I pay for YouTube.

LOL I'm not complaining. I just noticed a bunch of Ron Paul stories, and hadn't take the time yet to see who was posting. I was starting to wonder whether Dr. Paul was planning another Presidential run! ;-)

I mean, he's not much older than Sleepy Joe, and I'm sure Ron still has much more mental capacity.

The job of restoring fiscal sanity is much harder now than it was in the 1980's.

I never heard that story. It makes sense. LBJ never deserved such respect.

I really wanted to see a Presidential campaign between Bernie and Trump. It would have been a good time for the REAL battle: Capitalism vs Socialism.

That's for sure. So much great information comes here. News gets here as fast, or faster than any other place I look.

I generally prefer to read articles rather than watch a video. But, for this case, I did both... I listened to Ron's delivery as I was following along in the text. It was a great speech. Practically all of it has held up well over time.

The clock continues ticking for us. I don't know how long we can go, printing this much money from nothing. But, I do know it cannot go on forever with a price to be paid.

I hear what you're saying. Years ago I considered Bernie a qualified representative of the Socialist philosophy and vision. As an idealist quasi-hippie in my teens (the 60's), I probably would have voted for him at one time.

But Bernie betrayed even his own principles; he became just a lazy grifter willing to sell himself out. Worse, he's become incoherent when trying to explain and defend the socialist point of view. He's just a loon now.

Trump would do better to debate someone who could at least construct a reasoned argument for their beliefs. Alas, most Leftists are either foaming at the mouth, or hiding in a safe space. It's staggering to think that among today's Democrats, John Fetterman comes the closest to being sane or coherent.
