Where are the real Greek gods when you really need them?
I mean they were petty, deceitful, jealous, and egotistical...
Oh my.... They're leading the Democratic Party.

LOL
Some people just don't get it. Religion is a genuine belief system, not a "Hmm... this looks interesting. I think I'll make THIS my religion." And choosing religion on the basis of 'sticking it to your parents' can only be described as, well, stupid.

It's truly sad that some folks will believe just about anything. There is one God.

Well said. Unfortunately the followers of Baalim will always be among us.
I often wonder how Jews through the centuries have considered the Greeks among whom they dwelled. I was not born a Jew, but if I were, I think that I might be quite a cynic indeed. Hey, I am a cynic, but that is besides the point!

As a christian, I cannot blame people for rejecting modern christianity. The "Jesus" that is peddled to folks by some factions is nothing more than a snake oil/good luck charm. "He" fixes all your problems instantly and never lets bad things happen to you. This false god will let you down like all other false gods.

"It is more or less like post-modern architecture," said Berger, who once attended a reconstructionist ceremony in which a pineapple was sacrificed. Be kind to plants - eat meat. ;)
To: SJackson
Gee - it must be a really bad time to find real news out there to put this tripe out...

"she recalled, a god appeared to her in a dream and said, "I am Apollo. You belong to me." "
I've tried that line before. It never worked for me.
To: SJackson
Actually, I have a lot of respect for the Reconstructionist pagans. They're at least trying to revive faiths that actually EXISTED, and guided whole civilizations. The "Wiccans," however, are following a "religion" that's really only about 50 years old, and is a mishmash of Masonic ritual, Anglo-Celtic folklore, and Gerald Gardner's own predilections for coed nudism and light S&M.
And please don't get me started on the Feminist/Dianic man-haters, or the Starhawkian "Watermelon Left"* "earth spirituality" scenes!
*"Watermelon": GREEN on the outside, but RED on the inside.
