"Minuteman" Jim Gilchrist is my prospective opponent for California's 48th District U.S. House Rep. special election. Does anyone know what his stance is on the Iraq War? I for one firmly support the President and our operations in Iraq. What is Gilchrist's position on the war?
Thank you, J. Scott Davis

Don't expect a straight answer from this crowd. Mostly you'll be flamed and people will call for you to be banned.

JScott, welcome to FR.
I too would like to hear Gilchrist's views on the Iraq war too.
But, turn about is fair play.
JScott, what is your position on loyal, patriotic and law abding Americans helping the Border Patrol in identifying illegal aliens crossing our borders into this nation so they cabn be apprehended and deported?
What is your general position on the millions of illegals entering this country? Shopuld we send them home? Should we strengthen our borders so they cannot get in?
Folks here want to know the answers to those questions as well.

As a future Congressman, his position on border security is more important that his position on the Iraq war. He will have little influence on the latter.
To: kellynla
Kellynla;
I support strengthening our defense against illegal
immigration to stop the criminal element from entering our
country illegally. Also, illegals negatively effect our tax dollar. In addition, terrorism is something we all need to
keep an eye out for.

He is doing it to make everyone aware that stopping the
flow of illegal immigration into our country is not being
adequately enforced.
A priority is the fight on terrorism! What is Gilchrist's
stance on the Iraq War?

Hi Roses of Sharon;
Thank you. I intend to serve the best interests of all Americans.

We are on the threshold of what will be the outbreak of the most abominable human hunting season known among the history of men on the face of the earth: the pompously named Minuteman Project. This project intends to seal the border of the United States with Mexico through the illegal patrolling of civilians armed to the teeth. These civilians, assembled by the patriot James Gilchrist and others of his stripe, say they are tired of the federal government not controlling the flow of migration. Because of this, they have decided to take the matter into their own hands. The illegal activity of the aforementioned vigilante border project comes with the tacit support of the federal government, of the state, and of Cochise County, which Tombstone, the land of Wyatt Earp and O.K. Corral, belong to, where it seems that firearms are the only reasoning that can be wielded to settle differences. We Mexicans substitute the Clantons, the vigilantes are in place of Earp, O.K. Corral is enlarged, and revolvers have been exchanged for more lethal military paraphernalia in the hands of crazy racists obsessed with racial purity. Unlike the original militiamen of old, however, these modern patriots dont go to battle with stones and sticks, nor do they respond to the call of their country for the defense of national sovereignty. No. These Jesse James copycats come from families of rancid ancestry. These are people that can have the luxury of not working a month or more, spending thousands of dollars for a human hunting expedition and even financially support a movement that says it is voluntary. These underprivileged and poor Americans arent going to sell off their houses or sell any of their own territory to undertake the defense of their country; they arent going to seek their livelihoods in an alien land; they havent felt the misfortune of seeing their sons die of hunger; they havent felt any sort of regret when the illegals contracted to work in their mansions havent been paid. The Minuteman Project and similar groups are nothing more than the hysterical and racist representation of a xenophobic minority. The cause they seek isnt just, or noble, or patriotic. They arent even Zorro or the Lone Ranger. They are merely and simply lawbreakers. Common felons. Criminals. http://gringounleashed.typepad.com/gringo_unleashed/2005/03/the_pompously_n.html lawbreakers? Common felons? Criminals? |

Jeff; I specifically support cracking down on illegal
immigration. We especially need to stop the criminal
element from entering our society. A priority is blocking
terrorism from flowing in.
We could increase trade to Mexico and encourage businesses
to open chains south of the border. By helping to energize
their economy, less people would be trying to sneak into
America to find work. Although, we need to continue a hard
defense against criminals entering the country.
Do I support the "Minuteman" project? Yes! I support it because of the criminal element that enters the country.
To: operation clinton cleanup
My opinion is that border security needs to be intensified.
Immigration officials need to crack down and investigate
thoroughly who they allow in.
I have no problem with law abiding foreign citizens moving to our country if the come in through proper channels.
Our Arab-Amercians need to work with authorities and turn in
their own culture that appear suspicious. That is one
key in preventing terrorism.
To: jscottdavis_for_48th_district
My point was that the war in Iraq should have no affect on voting for a local Congressman to protect the border.
To: jscottdavis_for_48th_district
Thank you for your reasoned reply. I agree with stopping the sieve to contain the terrorists and the "criminal element". But, let's cut to the cahse, to me, anyone violating our laws to get in here is part of the "criminal element".
I am all for legal immigration and the good it brings our country. We need to make clear what a legal immigrant must do to be legal and eventually become a citizen if they so desire. Those people want to be a part of America, to assimilate into our soceity and become Americans themselves, appreciating, working for and defending our liberties and constitution and laws.
...but I am four square against open borders that ignore those who enter our nation in violation of our laws and then rewards them with services as if though they were citizens. It is a downward spiral IMHO and a fool's errand.
So...please be more specific on the "criminal element". I feel you may be unitnentionally skirting part of the heart of the matter. Do you just mean the people who traffic in people and narcotics and such...or do you include in that "criminal element" those who violate our laws (the definition of criminal activity) in coming here.

My point is that a Congressman has priorities he needs
to work with. National defense and the fight on terrorism
is a priority.
To: Jeff Head
YES, I agree with you! Illegals receiving benefits after
sneaking into our country is a criminal element.
Although those who join our military to receive U.S.
citizenship are nearly as honorary and noble as one can be!
