No October Surprises, Mr. Bush!

We the undersigned request and exhort the President and all members of the Executive Branch of the United States and their supporters to allow this Presidential election to proceed in a clean and democratic way.

We demand that no October Surprises be foisted on the American electorate along the lines of, but by no means limited to:

1. The sudden "capture" of Osama bin-Laden.
It has been rumored for months that bin-Laden has in fact been captured and that this administration is waiting until just before election day to display him to the American public in the hopes that this will boost Bush's results in the election. We hope this is nothing but a rumor and urban legend, but let this serve notice to this administration that we are watching and will educate the public on this!

Anarchy? Civil War? Is this moron referring to the recent peaceful and highly participatory democratic elections in Iraq, along with its new Constitution and permanent government?

As a matter of fact, yes, he is. The liberals have constructed an unusually effective defense mechanism that insulates them against any positive developments in Iraq.

In their mind, Iraq is already a failure -- a "defeat". Nothing that happens henceforth will change this outcome. Iraq is now in their rear view mirror, a "lost cause", they have "moved on". Any future developments which appear positive -- and, thus, contrary to their view -- they will ignore. Or, if necessary, re-cast.

Iraq was Bush's war. It failed. We lost. End of story.

This is the left's patented dialectical materialism in action.

Ugh! Thanks once AGAIN, kcvl, for doing all this ugly research, so we don't have to!

I hope this youngster comes back and READS these posts. And then does some research into what the heck he missed, like -- oh, I don't know -- like WHO VOTED FOR THE 1964 Civil Rights Legislation and WHO DIDN'T!

And BTW: I am still waiting for GWB to use the flightsuit pics in his re-election campaign. And to talk to his "Saudi friends" to lower gas prices before the election, and.... *takes a deep breath*

Oh, well, as a wise old judge said, "The world needs ditch-diggers, too!"

We don't need to be paranoid. The 'Rats and DUmmies will use anything we say here as "ammo". Supporting any military action is by it's very nature "abdicating violence". Most of us are pragmatic enough to make a distinction. We don't need to worry about offending a 'Rat/DUmmie/moonbat. Besides, even 'Rats support military action if a 'Rat is in the White House.

I appreciate your thoughtful posts very much, WOSG. The "nuke all Muslims" rhetoric definitely doesn't make our troops in Iraq safer, and I wish the trash-talkers here would think about that.

My nomination for the stupidest image on Freerepublic.

"I get the feeling that most Republicans secretly feel this way about Muslims and Arabs. I know President Bush has publicly said that he is not warring against Islam or Arabs, but against Saddam Hussein and the Terrorists, but I have this feeling that he and Uncle Dick say things altogether different in private."

I've seen people say this, when challenged to show ANYTHING to back it up, the silence is deafening.

You are right.

I ALSO predict this lie will be used: When Iraq stabilizes and Bush and the generals decide that Iraq doesnt need as many troops, we will draw down troops ... then, the Democrats will say "See, he's finally coming round to our way, we told you we should get out of Iraq and now he's doing it! He's bugging out" etc. etc. ad inifinitum too many/too few/ allforoil, etc.

Rinse and repeat.

Hmmmm, I think I could write an AI program that takes the news, inserts "Republicans are evil" randomly, and pretty much approximate the gibberish he produces, only more grammatical.

It is certainly possible to hope for democracy in Iraq and still believe that Islam at its core is an evil doctrine.

Exactly. And isn't the ability to navigate the tension between conflicting ideas that are concurrently held one of libs' most highly rated virtues?

Rather than getting all bitchy, the writer should be praising us for our circumspection.
