Ping!
OK, let me get this straight. We can require people to register to vote but cannot require them to prove they are who they claim they are?
The US House bill requires states to provide free ids to those who cannot afford them. I suppose next the Democrats will argue that registering is too difficult for the poor and we should do away with that as well!
Ha! They're busted and they can't get all those illegal aliens to vote for the Demmies if this passes through!!
Send the ACLU to Venezuela with the UN! I'll help pack!
How come it's OK to require a photo ID to fly but not to vote? Hmmmmmmmmmmm?
Yes, it even provides for free I.D.'s and they still cry "poll tax". Isn't it ridiculous? If you read the entire post at STACLU it is quite revealing.
What I dont understand is voting is a fundamental right with no restrictions.
Shouldn't gun ownership be the same thing.
Or if we can put restrictions on gun ownership cant we do the same to voting.
It will ruin their takeover of the government....you know its in our own best interest..wink..wink...we will take care of you..wink..wink...socialism is good..wink wink...
Eventually, the ACLU will complain that people having to drive to a polling place is an undue burden. Then when the government offers rides, they will claim that the open poll hours are too restrictive.
On our November ballot there will be a question which if passed will allow convenience stores to sell beer and wine. You can't be asked to show an ID to vote for this, but you'll have to show an ID to buy the beer and wine.
Headline = DUH
I like it. It has all the right enemies.
"undue and unnecessary burdens"
Try renting a video, cashing a check or even signing up for a library card without picture ID. This is the "burden" we would like to ask for when voting. The reason for asking is the past fraud of the dead or illegals or felons voting time and time again. My legal vote can be cancelled by a vote cast by fraud.
This "Voter ID" bill, would require voters in federal elections to provide picture identification by 2008 and provide proof of U.S. citizenship by 2010.
It was among the recommendations made last year by the bipartisan Commission on Federal Election Reform, headed by former President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, and former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, a Republican.
Excellent points, MNJ!

Absolutely. If the U.S. were to actually have a valid, legit election, the democrats would barely exist. They know it, and that's why they're fighting tooth and nail to keep their voting scams hidden. This bill terrifies them!
The feds caught a whole boat load of democrats voting with mutable absentee ballots in N.Y. and Florida in 2004. Those are just the ones they caught!
They didn't check the country for the illegal alien votes in 2004, either. There are 12,000,000 living off our tax dollars right now that would love to vote democrat for more free handouts.
LOL - exACTly.
In my mind, every attempt to prevent the Voter ID laws, is a way of preserving the opportunity for fraud.
