What he really meant to say:

"As a worthless, pathetic excuse for a human being, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones that I'm not qualified to lead flies to a steaming pile of dog sh!t. My poorly stated joke at a rally should only be considered further evidence of my complete lack of tact, wit and any sense of patriotic fervor for the United States of America.

I sincerely regret that my words were heard by Americans and would have much preferred that they'd have been restricted to their intended audience in the Republic of Viet Nam where my true sympathies lie.

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about my ineptitude and treasonous words directed at the men and women in uniform. I will continue to thrash about like a gill snagged trout while the perverts and communists in Massachussetts continue to elect me to office where I will continue my efforts to undermine the work of our founding fathers and smear the members of our uniformed services. I will continue to laugh my ass off all the way to Theresa's bank, knowing that 200 years ago I would be tarred and feathered for my insidious, seditious language, and yet in this day and age I will barely be called to account."

"I was in Vietnam. Sorry if you're offended. You misinterpreted me. The Republicans suck. I'll continue the fight to get a good snowboard run in Idaho."

Lt. Kerry, out."

Back at you!!

Yeah!! I had it tough in Vietnam!! Four months & it almost killed me. 3 Purple Hearts and all that. I could show you my wounds - but this is a family site!

No one better question my patriotism. I stand behind the troops but hate the military.

Lt. Kerry, Out.

This is good for another day, at least. This is NOT an apology. Keep phoning his offices and those of major Dems and demand an apology for the ACTUAL words which he spoke and have that apology made at a televised news conference.

"He should go away."

Well, yesterday he said he would -- cancelled all his campaign appearances. But who knows? Maybe he'll now "apologize" for that too and start opening his yap again. With john I-voted-for-it-before-I-voted-against-it kerry, you just never know.

kerry isn't the only Demorat to badmouth our Troops. Hannity is having Harold Ford JUNIOR on his show this evening because JUNIOR has said kerry should appoligize. BUT JUNIOR has a problem of his own badmouthing our Troops himself. He thinks they are OIL COPS

. He thinks we should GROW our way out of dependence on ME oil.

What a POS. His words were not misinterpreted. Hell, according to him he said the words wrong. He's not sorry for the words, but he regrets if you are too stupid to not understand what he meant. Also, he throws in the false premise of "failed security policy". Our present security policy is not a failure. It's a proactive policy of pursuing our enemies. It's more than the Clintons did. "Failed Security Policy", ya know what a "failed security policy" is consistently voting against every defense program to be proposed. That's John Kerry's failed security policy. What a POS person.

The DUmmies agree: it's not an apology.

His handlers didn't trust him to deliver the statement accurately at a presser.

I've seen a version of the speechwriters' script for the 'joke'. Delivered correctly it would have been clear he was asserting that President Bush hadn't studied or 'done his homework' on Iraq before starting the military campaign (I forget the exact wording, but it's easy enough to make up a statement not unlike Kerry's that makes it clear).

Since he couldn't get a throw away line right, came off as even stupider (to any of us who remember his 1971 behavior) in his presser yesterday, they decided it had to be written.

(And even there he came off as stupid, any 'troop'--you can't back-construct the singular to mean a person, a troop is a group of soldiers (or Marines), and the collective applies to individuals because it applies to the groups.
To say nothing of the redunancy of '. . .misinterpreted to wrongly. . .')

You're absolutely right on target. That sums up the mentality exactly.

What's disturbing is that the "excuse" is that this was meant as a joke about our President, during a time of war, and no one has said, "Well, even if it was a joke about the President, it was still tasteless and deserves an a$$ beating."

Why is it OK for a US Senator to say something like this about the President (accepting his lame excuse that Bush was the target of his comments)?

Kerry gave a "Cynthia McKinney" apology... and we all know what happened to her political career!

"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended. "

In other words, if you accept this as an apology, you're as stupid as he said you are. Un-friggin-believable!

This is your typical Democrat apology. I didn't make a mistake. If you misinterpreted my remarks (dumbass) I apologize.

"In other words: I'm sorry that you're too stupid to understand what I was saying."

That's right. And it contradicts what he said yesterday about having made a "botched joke." Our ears didn't "botch" anything, kerry's mouth is what "botched."

Can't he make an "apology" without blaming someone else

I was taught this as a child. To say "I'm sorry...BUT" was not considered a well thought apology and was not allowed.

John Kerry was not raised right.
