Good comparison. In this scenario, the unmitigated fiasco and security hazard which is HAMAS controlled Gaza, post withdrawal, is certainly in these soldiers' and Police officers' minds.

As has been said on Free Republic in recent months that "the Constitution is not a suicide pact" when addressing the need to reign in Islam, likewise disobeying "lawful" orders while a weak and ineffectual Israeli leadership commits national suicide in the "disputed territories" is a chance for Jewish men of caliber to stand on principle, and as you pointed out, bravely shoulder the fallout from that principled decision.

Good for them. Good for anyone serving in America's forces who is likewise forced to make such a hard decision.

Any man who is ordered to act in a manner which deprives his fellow countrymen of life, liberty or freedom has the duty to refuse that order. Especially when the government they currrently serve is busy committing national suicide and disintegrating from lack of leadership.
