Scruggs is no different than most lawyers.

It is impossible to become wealthy as a lawyer without endless criminal activity.

...of trying to bribe a Mississippi judge...

I guess that we'll never hear about the successful bribe operations. Or maybe we've heard of them but just in the context of Scruggs' big wins.

“Trent Lott’s brother?”

Actually he is Trent’s brother-in-law.

This Trent Lott thing is interesting. Lott resigns on short notice just before Scruggs is indicted. It sure looks suspicious. Any Mississippians out there care to let the rest of know what the scuttlebut is?

I've heard vague rumors Trent might have been involved in getting people federal judgeship's and Dickie might have been involved too, but it's only rumor at this point. You're right, the timing of the resignation is very interesting.

The thing that bothers me about plea deals is that the whole story is never told. It seems to me that Mr. Scruggs must fear for someone dear’s life in order for him to take the deal. I’d like to know who he is protecting besides himself. I want to know how many judges he has bribed and how many judges in how many states are involved. How many fed judges?

DO you know something?

If not, at least the poster above had the decency to say it was “rumor”.

I’m no Trent Lott fan-—too much of a dandy for my tastes. But I think it’s totally unfounded to insinuate he’s involved simply because it’s his brother in law. (Lord knows, I’d hate to be dragged into some of the things my in-laws have done.)
