Lehrer did do a good job. But he wandered too far from the supposed subject of the debate to give Obama the opportunity to talk about the economy.

Not unexpected when every step is a left turn.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if Palin opened with something like this, “Thank you Gwenn, it’s an honor to be here. And before I begin I’d like to remind the American public that you have a book coming out in inauguration day. Isn’t that book titled, The Age of Obama? Anyway, I’m looking forward to your really unbiased debate moderating.”

Nah, not "Sarah" enough. She'd say something like:

"Before I answer that, Gwenn, I'd like to thank the Presidential Debate Committee and Washington University for hosting this debate, and you, Gwenn, for moderating. I understand you have book due out next January, so best of luck with that project. What was the title?"

She is part of the Feminist identity group that has been the most vile and vitriolic with Governor Palin and yet she “moderates”. Forgive me for being a bit skepitcal. What a freaking joke. The GOP walks right into another trap although this one has a big neon blinking sign saying "BEWARE TRAP"

http://debate.wustl.edu/contact.htm

After making several fruitless calls, I have finally been directed to the above page and am about to hit the phone again.

I have been told that these people have direct input into whether Ifill will indicate that she has a conflict of interest in moderating the debate and releasing her new book.

These people have control over the debate.

Of course he still plans to meet them. Gotta get in that appearance so it will help his pro-Obama book tour he is planning for January.

OBAMA IS IMPLICATED IN THE FINANCIAL CRISIS

NOW WE KNOW WHAT A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER DOES

I'M VOTING FOR SARAH

They need to pull her from the moderator position. Has the entire world lost their minds?

The fact that the VP debate moderator has a book coming out, The Breakthrough - Politics and Race in the Age of Obama to be published on the day of inauguration, does that strike anyone as unethical -- Having a financial stake in the outcome of the debate? I wonder why Ifill didn't tell anyone about the book?

The debate commission should immediately remove her as moderator.

You mean this book at Amazon.com?

The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama (Hardcover) by Gwen Ifill (Author) ...... This is outrageous! The first thing Sarah should do is ask Gwen Ifill if she believes in full disclosure of conflicts of interest. Then she should ask whether the moderator thinks she can be fair when she has an Obama biography coming out that is timed for release two weeks before Inauguration Day.

The viewing public, who are generally dumb as stones, needs to know that this debate is a set-up from the get-go.

Actually these people aren’t in their offices yet and it looks to me like they also will not take responsibility for Ifill and her conflict of interest......

Don’t worry Gwen, the Mocha Messiah will heal it with the touch of a fingertip......
Actually , he could probably do it from a distance with just a phone call....
But seriously folks, I fell down stairs last December, sliced the back of the top joint of my middle finger nearly off, and had to undergo months of hand therapy after the hand nearly paralyzed through the two months of watching, waiting, one attempted sew-it-back-on treatment,(unsuccessful) and one skin graft , taking triple thick skin plus pulp from my palm. ANything can happen when you fall down stairs. My problem was that my left hand involuntarily went up and grabbed the edge of a bare steel stud (like a knife), I’d just installed alongside the open stairway, and that’s what sliced into the back of the fingertip. I was just beginning to learn about Obama at the time, so I couldn’t consult him. I went to a hospital emergency room, and a plastic surgeon instead.

That was my line from an earlier thread! You added to it and it does sound better.

About Gwen: I wish her a rapid recovery.

I shattered my left ankle ski racing. It took almost 5 hours of surgery to stabilize everything, install a plate, 10 screws and finish off with 34 stitches. A second surgery was necessary to remove the plate and the screws. I was out of racing for about 2 years!

As much as I disagree with her, I could never wish this on anyone!
