First On TVNewser: PBS' Gwen Ifill has broken her ankle after tripping and falling down stairs at her home last night, a NewsHour insider tells TVNewser. We're told Ifill had been walking up a staircase, carrying research related to her moderating duties at Thursday's Vice Presidential debate in St. Louis, when she took a wrong step.
We are also told the show will go on: Ifill is planning to travel to Missouri for the big event.

Lehrer did do a good job. But he wandered too far from the supposed subject of the debate to give Obama the opportunity to talk about the economy.
******when she took a wrong step******
Not unexpected when every step is a left turn.
Nah, not "Sarah" enough. She'd say something like:
"Before I answer that, Gwenn, I'd like to thank the Presidential Debate Committee and Washington University for hosting this debate, and you, Gwenn, for moderating. I understand you have book due out next January, so best of luck with that project. What was the title?"

After making several fruitless calls, I have finally been directed to the above page and am about to hit the phone again.
I have been told that these people have direct input into whether Ifill will indicate that she has a conflict of interest in moderating the debate and releasing her new book.
These people have control over the debate.
Didn’t Bubba C. “sprain” his ankle with some golfing pro in Florida?
Help me out Freepers!
The debate commission should immediately remove her as moderator.
You mean this book at Amazon.com?
This is outrageous! The first thing Sarah should do is ask Gwen Ifill if she believes in full disclosure of conflicts of interest. Then she should ask whether the moderator thinks she can be fair when she has an Obama biography coming out that is timed for release two weeks before Inauguration Day.
The viewing public, who are generally dumb as stones, needs to know that this debate is a set-up from the get-go.
Actually these people aren’t in their offices yet and it looks to me like they also will not take responsibility for Ifill and her conflict of interest......
She was carrying ten signed copies of the “Audacity of Hope.”
Don’t worry Gwen, the Mocha Messiah will heal it with the touch of a fingertip......
Actually , he could probably do it from a distance with just a phone call....
But seriously folks, I fell down stairs last December, sliced the back of the top joint of my middle finger nearly off, and had to undergo months of hand therapy after the hand nearly paralyzed through the two months of watching, waiting, one attempted sew-it-back-on treatment,(unsuccessful) and one skin graft , taking triple thick skin plus pulp from my palm. ANything can happen when you fall down stairs. My problem was that my left hand involuntarily went up and grabbed the edge of a bare steel stud (like a knife), I’d just installed alongside the open stairway, and that’s what sliced into the back of the fingertip. I was just beginning to learn about Obama at the time, so I couldn’t consult him. I went to a hospital emergency room, and a plastic surgeon instead.
About Gwen: I wish her a rapid recovery.
I shattered my left ankle ski racing. It took almost 5 hours of surgery to stabilize everything, install a plate, 10 screws and finish off with 34 stitches. A second surgery was necessary to remove the plate and the screws. I was out of racing for about 2 years!
As much as I disagree with her, I could never wish this on anyone!
That’s what you get for carrying too much of B.Hussein’s water.
