As the movie "Taken" passes the 150 million mark worldwide, (thanks to its 3rd consecutive 20 million+ weekend in the US, an interview with its star Liam Neeson has been released from Germany.
BILD: "Why do you think your action thriller is number one in the US?
Liam Neeson: "We live in a time in which no one wants to take responsibility. Everyone passes the blame onto someone else, the circumstances, the fate. My hero acts. He does what he can do best - kill! But he has a heart of gold."
For those who have not seen this movie, its about an ex CIA agent who does EVERYTHING he can to get his kidnapped daughter back.
As Neeson states in the interview: It is a very politically incorrect film. A man does everything in order to rescue the most important thing in his life his daughter. Wouldnt you do the same?
MSNBC went even further saying it is a movie that "Bushies" will love and compared its racism to "Birth of Nation"
The bad guys are Albanians, corrupt French, and Arabs. The idiot is the liberal mom who lets her teen daughter go to Europe without an adult. "Enhanced interrogation techniques" are used...and work. There are no F-Bombs or nudity (rated PG-13) and there are no liberal themes like global warming. Last of all the hero is the father. No wonder liberals hate this movie so much...and its doing so well!
> MSNBCs uncalled for response just shows how close minded libs are to any movie that doesnt involve portraying heroes, the CIA, and fathers in a bad light.
That was another factor that got me to the movie. It was PMSNBC’s quote that I found here on FR. I prefer to give my hard-earned dough to pro-American movies instead of another “America is baaaad” movie from Clooney.
Anybody dense enough to have hooked up with Skinhead O’Connor probably isn’t playing with all 52 anyway.
I saw the flick Saturday night... very entertaining (not a 100% believable, but very popcorn worthy) I couldn’t wait for the next thug take-out scene... however I don’t know why the interrogation scene that’s on tv commercials disappeared from the final cut... probably too real ;-)
"I dont recall but if he turned a new leaf fine by me. He has always been one of my favorite actors. Highly underrated IMO"Don't get your hopes up. Most Liberal actors love to do these kind of action movies...makes them feel all Macho and man-like...has nothing to do with what they believe in.
I saw this film with two friends, a man and woman over age forty, like me, and we all loved it. My cousin’s daughter is fifteen and she saw it with her friends, and they loved it - then she asked her parents to buy her a cell phone so she could always be safe - understandable query if you saw the film.
A friend emailed me that police in four different cars raided the house across the street for a sex offender with kiddie porn. I said, just send in Liam Neeson with a Glock.
A Spanish version of this film is available as an import on amazon.com, steep price. The English version has been shown on cable. The copyright date is 2007.
Liam’s mother-in-law is the pro-Palestinian Lib, Vanessa Redgraves.
I gotta see this one and Gran Torino.
Thanks for posting that photo from the film. Liam is still a hunk and he is aging nicely. He is very appealing on screen because you want to believe in his character. Young folks can see him as a caring Dad that many of them never had. BTW I loved him as Master Qui-Gon in Phantom Menace.
I highly recommend a picture no one has seen, "Tell No One," Bresson's outstanding French language action thriller, assuming you can tolerate the sub-titles. Some of his great English language movies include The Professional, Unleashed, and the Transporter flicks.
I gotta see this one and Gran Torino..............
Gran Torino sounds absurd to me so I’m not bothering with it but Taken was very good
and the ending was satisfing, unlike “gran torino”
Trailer to another great Luc Bresson movie, Tell No One, a picture that nobody has seen:

Thank you for the recommendation. I will take u up on the offer and get it from Netflix.
Don’t worry about the subtitles. I volunteer encoding Japanese anime for a Fansub group so I am definitely used to subtitles. :) plus..I’m originally from Canada where French is taught at the 1st grade level. :)
Sounds like an updated version of the Charlie Bronson “Death Wish” flicks that we here LOVE!
If the cops can’t or won’t, sometimes a little personal attention to the problem is just what’s needed.
Hmm - two conservative movies and a harmless, non-agenda comedy "shot well beyond expectations". Only to the liberal dimwits in LaLaLand.
You would think that the powers-that-be in Hollywood, if they are truly interested in being financially successful, would detect this trend. Alas, they would rather bankrupt the industry than turn away from their propaganda.
Former Special Air Service (SAS) soldier, Mick Gould, trained Liam Neeson in combatives and weapons handling skills to prepare him for the role.
The fighting art used by Liam Neeson in the film is primarily Filipino Kali with elements of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Both fighting arts are in use in British Special Air Service (SAS) as well as US Navy Seals. Fight Coordinator/Technical Advisor Mick Gould is highly skilled in both.
great Luc Bresson movie......
He did the “Fifth Element” which was wacky in all the right places. Over the top Chris Tucker
